You are completely underestimating the undefeatable man eating bears. That battle was not even a challenge for the indomitable Ewok horde, they were just playing with their food.
Incorrect, that Ewok was not dead, he only had indigestion and was taking a nap after eating three stormtroopers and an AT-ST.

You all have been warned, they are coming, December 18th...

Where does that Lucas quote come from? I thought the Ewoks were going to be Ewoks but they went through a number of design changes - one design had a little round body and long legs for example. Knowing a senior crew member at the time there was no mention of wookiees (at least by the time it came to creating the props and costumes).

What I read was that in an early draft of Star Wars when GL had it in his mind as a single story was the character that eventually became Obi Wan (I think) training a bunch of primitive Wookiees to pilot Starfighters and attack the empire's base. When the story evolved into three movies and the Chewbacca depicted Wookiees as tech savvy, GL had to come up with Ewoks to be the primitive species. I believe all or most of this was in The Secret History of Star Wars.

So yeah, a crew member for ROTJ would quite possibly not have been exposed to the concept of a bunch of Wookiees being involved in the final attack because that part of the story had already changed by 1977.

Here's the one question I don't see anyone asking; if there are Ewoks in TFA, will their eyes blink?

This is a well-established trope in films and stories, the technologically inferior freedom fighters winning over a vastly superior force - it is Avatar all over again, and Crazy Horse vs. Custer, and Spartacus vs. Rome, and V, and Fallen Skies, and Sovjet Union vs. Nazis, and London vs. Nazis, etc. etc. This is a very popular trope, and it seems to speak to our notion of heroism. (In Rambo III it is the Mujahideen+Rambo fighting the super-villain Sovjets, but yeah... that's another topic entierly ;) ).

I would argue, that the problems with the Battle of Endor is not that the Ewoks are awesome, but that the Stormtroopers are blast. In Space/on DS2 there is real danger and tension during the Battle of Endor, but on the ground it is - except for a few token scenes - heroes wading through idiot Stormtroopers. RotJ would have been a lot better had the Stormtroopers actually amounted to anything, and I for one is excited to see them do just this in TFA.

Not really they will just use them same props from before we don't need a eye blinking mechanical failure during shooting.

I think you missed my point. Lucas added blinking Ewoks into a special edition of a special edition to relative controversy. So the question becomes are blinking Ewoks canon and would that be included whether a digital add on or not, or would they go back to the static bear suits? Other masked characters were made to blink their eyes with no perceivable problem. And how do people feel about it either way?

    Damn. Now I feel stupid.

He's definitely taller than I remember him being, but isn't he standing on something in that pic, like the first round of "bleechers"

Those pics prove nothing. He could easily be standing on a step. I suspect he's a smaller than average human height.

Errr, have you seen the first image? It's a full body shot of NIen Nunb.

If this is not enough, then I should bring up the fact that actor Richard Bonehill (with normal body structure) was the extra wearing the full body suit, while Mike Quinn operated Nunb's face, which was a large animatronic hand puppet in the close ups.

And even if this is not enough, then I guess this should be:

5'2" is very small for an adult male to be fair. Is that standard height for his species?

Edit- I'm an idiot and wasn't reading the thread.

I really hope that the new stormtroopers will be a force to be reckoned with...pun intended.
