Reading Stephen King's new book (with his son Owen) Sleeping Beauties. It's a huge mess and yet very entertaining.

I'm about 3/4 through Scoundrels and just wanting to get it over with. I've never been so bored by a Star Wars story before, actually I keep forgetting I'm reading a Star Wars story.

Ian C. Esslemont - Path to Ascendancy 2 - Deadhouse Landing

For the fans of Malazan Empire, this is a must read: early days of Dancer and Kallanved.

Oathbringer is the third, The Words of Radiance comes after The Way of Kings. While I liked the first greatly (because it was new), I didn't like the second one as much because the central character wasn't my favorite. While The Way of Kings is tighter book, Oathrbinger is richer and contains one of the best character arcs I have read in fantasy and therefore it became my favorite.

Have in mind that I am major Sanderson fan, incidentally I started following his career very early on, which was fascinating because you can actually map his growth as a writer and the story teller from book to book. So, because I am a fan, you might want to take it with the grain of salt.

LOL, Oathbringer was 1200+ pages and it was short for me, I wanted more. Luckily, Sanderson is not Martin - when he tells you he'll publish the book in two years, he does it.

    Thanks for this.
I realised after posting that Oathbringer was book 3 but if it as good as the first one then i will probably end up getting it book 2 at the same time. Which would keep me occupied for about a month plus I got a load to f Book Vouchers for Christmas & have been looking for some thing to spend them on.

All three are good, it's just the matter of personal preference - some love book 2 because they like that particular character. But get ready for some really, really batsh*t crazy stuff. :D

One of my goals is to finish the main Malazan books by the end of this year. It's been...tough. And I haven't even started Book 4 yet. House of Chains was SPECTACULAR though. Memories of Ice, I understand but I don't think I liked it as much as most fans do...then again, maybe that'll change when I (eventually) finish and reread the series.

WOOT WOOT SANDERFANS!! Oathbringer was pretty amazing. It's also funny how both major SFF tentpole items I was looking forward to this year (OB and TLJ) deal with the theme of past mistakes, acceptance, and moving forward.

I just finished The Iliad yesterday and hopefully will finish A Tale of Two Cities by the end of next week. Then it's on to Lonesome Dove. Hopefully.

It really, really was. It is still one of my favorites. But, once you get past the first book which is a little rough for a new reader, the rest is more or less spectacular, depending on the taste. One of my favorite expressions ever is from Malazan: "wide-eyed stupid". :D

I was thinking EXACTLY the same while I was reading. And Dalinar's exit to confront Odium with a book was a such Luke move. :)

Well I picked up the hardback edition of Oathbringer for half price at my local bookshop today so that should
    A) Keep me busy for a few weeks
    B) Save me a trip to the gym
Note I Don't go to the gym anyway so that's just a bonus .

Now I have to order the second one online as the bookshop can't get a hold of it for about 2 - 3 weeks :(

i was at the bookstore this morning and i remembered this conversation, so wandered into the fantasy section and found the first book of the series.
i picked it up, determined it would break my skinny little wrist, and decided against it ~ hahahaha

Over hear you can buy the paper backs in 2 volumes so it not to bad though it cost more to buy that way but does make the book more manageable.

I am current reading Star Wars Galatic Phrase Travel Book and Travel Guide by Ben Burtt. It's a small book so it fits in my pocket.

I read all of Ian Fleming's James Bond novels in the past but I just got into reading some of the continuation novels. First I read Colonel Sun by Kingsley Amis and now I'm getting into Benson's novels before I circle back around to read John Gardner's after that. I finished Zero Minus Ten and started The Facts Of Death yesterday, the first was decent and the second is shaping up pretty well.

I'm currently reading the Jedi apprentice books. They take place before the events of TPM and it's about qui gon and obi wan and the adventures they had together. Im currently just starting the third book. It's some pretty good legends material if you guys are interested.
