What do you think it was like for George Lucas watching the trailer?

I honestly believe he has conflicted feelings about this teaser in so many ways. How could he not? It's Star Wars, the achievement of his life, turned into other peoples' hands (by his own decision, but still..) Since he probably is responsible for the general outline of the film I don't think he's upset with anything, and he probably chuckled at the rolling droid. Maybe there's a bit of resentment, or regret, mixed in too. Resentment at the PT backlash, and now the world going crazy for Episode VII. Regret, that he sold his intellectual property (but then he'll take a quick look at his bank account and everything's fine again).
Most of all, I guess he's thinking, as that fake special edition trailer spoofs so eloquently, how he could fill up those frames with moar

By the way, how many times have people linked to it in various threads now? I suggest we all put it in our signatures.

 

He made 4 billion dollars off blast he already made probably 8 billion off of If over the last 35 yrs .If I was him I would have watched it while doing lines of coke off my new wife's ass.

 

To keep it short, he was probably proud of the immense galaxy he created, and proud to see people wish to continue it after all these years.

 

He has probably seen it before we got to see it.I imagine he silently approved it to an extent.Maybe he would give us more revelations in his version of the teaser.

 

Ah George Lucas, Love him, hate him, We both him. Let's give him a proper sending away ceremony for his years of Service to us fans:

What do u mean seeing the trailer....... He already knows the plot, read the script, been on set, seen the set through the camera, saw dailys....... George Lucas has probably already seen the 1st rough draft of what they have of the film. I for one hope George can enjoy it.

 

I hope he looked at it and said "that's pretty cool" and nothing else. He doesn't seem like a real excitable fellow. I also hope he doesn't read any of the hate stuff about how lame the prequels were (they weren't) and how he ruined Star Wars (he didn't).

 

I can imagine the conversation when he made suggestions for changes.

George will be pleased and relieved. He always wanted other creators to make the films beyond A New Hope, either using his guidelines or creating offshoots with quite separate casts and stories - some really 'far out', while George concentrated on building Lucasfilm. He enjoys the variety. Didn't quite go the way he wanted until now. He's now got his own fantastic cinematic legacy, and will something like the Gene Roddenberry of the new movies, but the films will essentially be made without him and he's free to take long vacations without being bothered by a single production-related phone call. Best of all worlds!

When he does see it I believe he will have nothing but good feelings. If I created something from the ground up and seen it come to full fruition but knew in order for it to live on it needed to be someone else's I would not in the least be upset wherever they took it. Lucas no doubt did some homework with choosing Disney and the team that would be in charge of Star Wars there, also he would likely have put in any major stipulations into the language of the deal of any major story components that could not be altered. I think any notion he would be pissed or envious is just a little anti-PT or Lucas projection.

 

i've actually lost a teenie weenie bit of respect for GL for his comment.

whether he has plans to see it at a theatre next year or not, when someone asks you about the teaser you say "yeah seen it... looks great". he is his own man and he can do or say whatever he likes of course.. but a diplomatic answer wins every time.

my better half has seen the teaser and she hates star wars (i know what your gonna say.. but she's hot)... everyone has seen it. of course GL has seen it.

 

He's probably a member on this forum.

Despite not seeing it, I bet he's finding it incredIbly difficult going anywhere without somone telling/asking him about it. Eventually he's going to have to give his opinion on the movie itself, whether he wants to or not..

I bet he has seen the teaser though, and just doesn't wanna give his seal of approval this early.
