He arrived in his ship, smelling like a swamp, and left on the Millennium Falcon, then in ROTJ he has his X-Wing back. Was that a different X-Wing, or did he go back and get it from Cloud City at some point, even though it was likely under Imperial control after what happened there?

Was the Empire aware if they had captured it that it was THE ship that destroyed the Death Star?

Oh snap. That just blew my mind.

I guess the one in RotJ is a different one.

Huh. Did not know this. Is there a good place to find the models used for Luke's specific Red 5 ship in filming the OT from a few angles? My google-fu isn't so hot today. I was trying to get a look and see if there are different paint schemes on each one.

Hm... now I'm wondering if anyone happens to have some good quality screenshots of his X-wings in all three films, so we can compare them and see if there are any noticeable differences.

Excellent! I think that one is considered the standard look for his ship, the gap in the red stripe on the front left, the yellow down the middle top.

Exactly. The thing is, I think they all looked the same (not accounting for things like the SE changes where I think every ship was a Luke Red 5 ship in that famous fly-by shot).

I tried searching for good screen shots from each film, but there wasn't much useful for comparing them.

I tried searching too, but I'm pretty lazy on that and I was hoping someone else could do it for me. :p

Anyways, any changes I expected to be small, like different scoring here or there which might imply a different ship. Definitely hard as heck to get those shots with the details needed I'm afraid.

Is this canon, though? He probably just adopted another one, like a parallel for Dameron in TFA with him going from this Blue/White X-Wing to his Black X-Wing.

Interesting thread question. Assuming that you need an R2 unit to "fire the converters" only a local Bespin guy with an R2 unit could have utilized Luke's Y-Wing for escape.

Or it was immediately confiscated by the Empire the moment Luke had lost sight of his ship because Darth Vader would have probably been interested where it came from. I'm rather confident that R2 units also act as flight recorders, but with Artoo gone elsewhere, there was apparently no clue that Luke had been to Dagobah
