SPECULATION What is BB-8 carrying?

    This is total speculation on my behalf, mostly based on some of the leaks/rumours that are running loose at the moment. So, this could end up being a total waste.

    However, what got me wondering this is some of the rumors that currently state that Poe's and Lor San Tekka's meeting is about the Starkiller weapon -- not the Skywalker saber. And that is what BB-8 ends up carrying: the blueprints of the weapon.

    In some way this sounds almost plausible, since this whole idea of chasing a saber sounds a bit wild-goose chase.

    So, if this rumor would somehow end up being true, how do Finn and Rey then end up with the saber? The most likely explanation, in my mind, is that one of the characters has it already:

    a) Finn -- he could steal it from Kylo?
    b) Rey has it
    c) Maz has it (and she will give it to Finn and Rey when they meet with Han?)

    Any thoughts? (Other than, "Don't trust Reddit leaks; they are full balouney!")

    d) Lukes Lightsaber. (my guess)

    BB-8 is big enough that the Saber could be inside it, along with other items.. like a Lunch Box and secret evil base defense plans too perhaps.

    Been saying this for a while, Maz has it and got it through trading, gives it to them when they meet her. BB-8 holds information but I'm not sure what - might be about Luke or Rey rather than technical info.

    It could contain the details of where Luke is being held prisoner aka Starkiller base

    This would help with the scenario that he saves the day when Kylo is fighting Rey/Finn. Maybe Han/Chewie set him free

    As likely as the KOR being a music band...but possible. Find out when we see the movie.

    I think it's information about Luke's location. Now, just how BB-8 has this information instead of R2 I'm not sure. I think Luke's saber is with Maz because the first time it's seen is with Finn at her castle.

    i like the idea we are getting away from the saber being in there and the mcguffen
    that to me was the silliest part
    if it is info about the base
    or if it is about where Luke is being held captive (if that is the case) then I like it
    the laser sword being part of someones collection much better

    hell lets say Leia has acquired it and has sent it out with someone, to get it to luke, cause she thinks if he can just get it in his hands the force will save everyones ass again

    I don't understand how or why many of the Star Wars fans(mostly 25 & under or so) seem to think light sabers are so important. Luke does NOT need a saber. He built his own new green light saber in a deleted ROTJ scene.
    I think GL & Kasdan added this scene to explain Luke's growth & maturity. With the new green saber(strong force user) Luke is now saying; "I am a Jedi, I can defend myself & will face Vader(evil)". The TFA plot about Anakin's blue light saber isn't signifigent to Luke.
    It might show who will really bring balance to the Force: Rey(or what ever her true name is).
