I was just thinking what kind of force usage will we see in episode 7. We know jedi mind trick, levitation, force choke, and force push, and of course force lightning. The question is will we see some new Force techniques. There has been a lot of different techniques used in the EU such as shatter point and battle melds and flow walking but the abilities shown in canon material is rather limited. I know i missed a few probably from tcw as i haven't seen them all yet. We obviously don't know what will be in 7 yet, but what kinds of powers do you want or expect to see in 7 or the other movies coming out in the next few years.
I would like for Luke to be a huge badass. The force power I think would be cool to see is a blood trace. Blood trace was referenced in the EUs fate of the jedi series. Luke gets wounded in afight and his opopponent escapes but they have luke blood on them and he can feel his own blood through the force and uses it to track down his oopponent. Who was in this instance Vestera Khai a sith warrior from the lost tribe of the sith. Obviously it would be different scenario.
    So......
    what's your proposed force power(s)

I just want to see more advanced variations of the force powers already shown. To me that would be enough. Such as when a guy is force pushed and he hits a wall it puts a nice little dint in it. Using telekinesis for more than just retrieving your vehicle and snatching a lightsaber out of some snow. I can not really think of a new one I would like. Maybe when a Jedi goes fully over to the light side and lets go of self. He or she gets really cool Jedi eyes akin the yellow sith eyes. Then they commence to kicking ass free of emotion and rage just serenity.

That would be so awesome seeing Luke pull down a Super Star Destroyer. It would really go nicely with the Darth Vader quote "Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you’ve constructed. The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."

Maybe this "sun destroying weapon" some of the leaks talk about is a Force powered weapon.

Sun destroying weapon this is the first I have heard of that. I remember the weapon that could destroy galaxies stationed on a snow planet but missed the other part. Sounds awesome any idea where I can read that?

Let me look back through the General Leaks thread. I think this weapon is actually the "Sith Homeworld" which I guess would be Moraband.

    great OP !

i hope they don't go too far with it all. The Emperor, Yoda and Vader only ever showed us lightning/choke/levitation etc and i wouldn't want their powers made too insignificant in the new movies.

but i'm totally gonna contradict myself now and say that i sooo want to see Luke throwing starships, choking rankors and throwing lightning out of all orifices.. but obviously as a good guy lol

what can i say? i want it all next year.. and cake

I'm probably in the minority, but I would actually prefer that the ST not just be another trilogy about overpowered Jedi superheroes the way the PT was. Sure, show some basic stuff like telekinesis, mind tricks, telepathy, etc., but I really hope they avoid turning Jedi powers into a glorified video-game leveling system. Yes, it would be visually cool to see Luke snap his fingers and crush a moon, but story-wise it'd just be silly.

    Found it: http://www.starwars7news.com/2014/09/new-star-wars-episode-7-leaks-plot-rumors.html
    -
"The appearance of the Sith homeworld is also interesting – it may or may not be Korriban/Moraband, though if Disney is trying to go for a unified Star Wars universe in terms of continuity, I don’t see why they wouldn’t use it to keep in line with previously-established canon. I can’t say that I’m really crazy about the idea that the entire planet is going to be a weapon, as that kind of makes it the Death Star III and thus a bit of a retread, but I’m hoping that it ends up being something akin to the Star Forge from the original Knights Of The Old Republic game instead of a generic planet-destroying doomsday device. While I’m shooting the Sith here, it’s interesting to see that they’re apparently going to use George Lucas’s old notes and bring Darth Ruin into the mix, since he had been created for the backstory of The Phantom Menace but did not appear in the movie itself (the same thing happened with Darth Bane, who was properly canonized with a cameo appearance in the series finale of The Clone Wars). I’m imagining that, if there are flashbacks in the film as the second post suggested, they will be used to relay the ancient history of the Sith instead of being about Darth Vader, or a younger Luke and Leia, as some people have suggested."

Here's a link to the weapon they're refering to:

"The Star Forge is more than just a space station. In some ways, it is like a living creature. It hungers. And it can feed on the dark side that is within all of us."

would love to see elements of kotor brought into the new movies. on-topic with a kotor theme.. would anyone think that leia having a battle meditation power like bastilla's could be a cool possibility?

I expect one Jedi Mind Trick. Some Levitation. A few Visions. And and one Choke.

I really hope we don't see anybody shoot lightning at people in any of the Sequels. I always interpreted it as something only the Emperor could do because he was so evil, and he only did it not because it was the most effective way to kill Luke - he could of just stopped his heart from beating or something. But he was trying to make Luke suffer for not becoming his apprentice "You will pay for your lack of vision!". The Prequels cheapened it from being some awesome power only the most evil wizard in the Galactic Empire could do, to being something stupid that somebody named Count Dooku could do.

But most importantly, people should only use the Force where it thematically relevant to the plot - the Force is a symbol, not just a deus ex machina tool.

I foresee a dramatic scene of Daisy/Kira using the force for the first time, similar to say Luke in the Wampa cave.

I read somewhere that supposedly Mark Hamill didn't want a lot of lightsaber action and wanted Luke to be a sort of Grand Wizard type Jedi similar to Yoda. So when we finally get to see Luke we will definitely see something impressive there, we can only dream of it being Luke pulling down a Star Destroyer.

Maybe use the force to pause time briefly, some force healing, force illusion, force imitate, force shape shifting, force blinding, force rage, force light saber throws. But in general I would just like to see different ways to use the same force powers already displayed...sparingly though.

I couldn't agree more. The lightning power should never have been reduced to a Sith parlor trick the way it was when Dooku almost casually flipped it at Anakin in AOTC. When the Emperor went after Luke in ROTJ, it not only caught Luke completely by surprise, but you could practically see the Emperor pouring all of his rage and hatred into damned near every blast. Then suddenly in AOTC, Dooku shoots lightning at Anakin almost as though he were flicking away a fly. And then Obi Wan absorbs a blast with his lightsaber with very little apparent effort - one would think that he or Yoda would have at least mentioned this to Luke at some point.

But that's the thing. In the OT, the Emperor's powers were treated as though there was a definite air of secrecy surrounding them. In the PT, it seemed like any ol' Sith could use them.

Leia could use clairvoyance, Luke Force crushing an AT-ST or AT-AT head like in Dark Empire, I'm sure they will have to show how powerful in the Force Luke would be by now. I don't know if stasis from KOTOR would work.

Plagueis, Palps, and Anikan all wanted to cheat dealth or save people from dying by using the force. So I think it would be neat if Grand Master Jedi Luke somehow found a way to save someone from dying (i.e. Han or a relative)
