When Did Star Wars 'Jump The Shark' ?!

Any 1 who bashes the PT gets a dislike from me!

The early 2010's r over. Its no longer "cool" 2 hate the PT.

 

People are entitled to their own opinion. Giving negative ratings to members of the community because of a difference of opinion isn't going to fly here.

 

That is all fair & good yes I know. But nearly every negative thing about the PT can b used against the OT. Its looking through "nostalgia" glasses I dislike the most.

 

That sounds like the subject of a different thread. Perhaps you can start it. In the meantime, let's not drag this thread off-topic. Thanks.

It wasn't a very good movie to me. I feel that it lacks originality and possesses more plot holes than I have found in other STAR WARS movies. Well . . . in my opinion.

You're obviously entitled to that opinion. But that's not what "jumping the shark" is.

No, but most of his harsh words were directed at the movies, not at people. While we insist that people respect differences of opinion, we're not going to moderate every negative word. I strongly disagree with his statement, but it's the way he feels. And that's ok.

 

Agree. that's the biggest issue I had with TFA (even though I still liked it a lot.) It seems like every time I voice an opinion about the PT, someone gives me the big negative marks.

To me, "The Force Awakens" was a sign that the franchise was beginning to decline in quality. However, since the release of "Rogue One", I have changed my mind and decided that "The Force Awakens" was merely a fluke - that one STAR WARS film that was a lot more inferior to the others.

Really? This is what that member had posted:

"Delusional prequel fanboys still pretending that the abhorrent prequel trilogy in all its indefensible stupidity didn't damage Star Wars, but TFA did. Absolute absurdity."

I really find it hard to believe that the phrase "Delusional prequel fanboys" was not an insult directed to those fans who enjoyed the Prequel movies.

lol that's hilarious...thinking back, it jumped the shark when Rey suddenly used the force with no background on her ever doing anything of the sort..

 

Kind of like when Luke did that in ANH? So Star Wars would have jumped the shark in the first movie. Personally, I would consider that normal Star Wars - not jumping the shark. Jumping the shark is doing something completely outrageous and out of character; something that is totally far-fetched. Perhaps I'm being too literal, but "jump the shark" is a specific term; and an interesting one as well, so I'd like to keep the thread on-topic. "Jump the shark" doesn't mean "I had an issue with something."

 

Well we knew Luke was already force sensitive and had a father that fought in the clone wars and whatnot so there was already a sort of precedence and acceptance of him...For Rey, we knew literaly nothing except for her being left on a junk planet at a young age

Did what exactly? For me it's still not entirely clear how much Obi-wan interfered to help Luke score that decisive hit destroying the first Death Star. Other than that, I don't recall Luke using the Force in ANH except for his training aboard the Falcon.

I somehow find it rather difficult to answer the thread question. Alternately I'm asking myself when did Star Wars stop riding the Tauntaun...



I'm afraid my truthful answer would have to be "after TESB".

Since my biggest issue with TFA was the all too obvious incompetence of the First Order, I guess that's where I'd say the shark jumping began.
