SPECULATION Who is the Inquisitor in Ahsoka?

Witwer, and a few of those listed as Additional Voices are frequently used in SW. Marrok does not utter as much as a grunt in the first two episodes. My prediction is this: Part 3, we get the exposition for who Baylan is, maybe Shin, we get a bit about Inquisitors and Marrok, and within 5 minutes, Ahsoka kills him. We never see his face.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if Marrok dies right away without any exposition... as a SW storyteller, you might say that he is obviously an inquisitor based on his clothes and lightsaber, will give him some small excerpt in upcoming encyclopedia and be done with him.
"Marrok was once member of the Inqisitorius, but was stranded somewhere and still wearing his armor and armed with his inquisiting dual lightsaber, he now works as a specialised mercenary."
Or something like that... It pains me to say it and it will sound arrogant, but I am quite dissapointed how basic most of the fan theories are.
Like, Witwer is voicing something, Inquisitor is Marrek, Galen Marek! Or also Maul or Emperor.

 

We know this, but not everyone does. I would also like to see some exposition to give him and his defeat a bit of gravity as the last of Vader's genocidal treatment of the Jedi. It could be a big step in Ahsoka's journey to put her Anakin Trauma behind her.

Star Wars.com put that out almost verbatim already, so your thoughts are pretty much dead on. It's the final push I needed to believe there is no big twist here.

 

I am convinced that he's just an x-Inquisitor for hire, so I'm fine with that.

I'm pretty sure Sam's voice roles can be ID'd at this point. Like I said above, I'm sold, it's just not 100%.

Because, fun Filoni stuff can still happen.

 

Yeah, I'm not totally sure that this is the case, but it does kinda feel like we may be placing too much importance on Marrock's identity. Rebels had a ton of masked Inquisitors. Their backstories were rarely important (GI maybe being a partial exception there).

I can understand that theorizing is fun, but I think by focusing on Marrock rather than Baylan and shin, we're missing the forest for the trees.

 

Some theories are more bananas, than others.

My favorite: Marrok is L-u-u-u-k-e Skywalker.

Like, I can't even fathom how they'd make that work... but hey, it's still possible.

I'll probably have to check sw.com more often But that's the thing, there is usually not that much interesting stuff, except for some canon confirmations, that we usually know of before and sometimes some tidbits for eagle eyed full time nerds like SW Explained or Eckhardts Ladder (I love this guy's in-universe talks in regards to strategies and technology).
My thoughts are shaped by collecting SW encyclopedias from DK since childhood, so I am used to these descriptions like: "Brown fish-like eyes give away the insecurity in his high-ranking position"

But I do agree, not being Rebels fan or following everything, I wonder how the casuals are faring or if they do even care, besides there being cool grunt with double lightsaber. And where is the middle ground. We are used to the overexposition from Prequel era, when Original Trilogy was selfexplanatory with simplicity and that kinda killed the sequels, when they tried to emulate the same thing but it felt like rehash and bit weird and confusing, 30 or so years after the cinematic fall of the empire in ROTJ. We already had catching up in Ahsoka, because it had to explain Rebels to non-rebel fans plus all the missing stuff from before BBY up till now. It got flack on the internet from Rebels fans, because they wanted the meat of the story straight away and some casual reviews were confused anyway.
I was secretly hoping for Rebels recap in the beginning, either standalone or before the show, like Obi-Wan did.
I am curious, if Ahsoka will hold up on her own at the end as a self contained story or if they are going for multimedia approach.

 

Are/were there any Ahsoka related comics / books scheduled for release this year?
Or, are you talking vidya games or, another character show like say Sabine, pre Ahsoka?

 

My guess is they're referring to how it appears that Ahsoka seems to not only be a sequel to Rebels in some sense, but also a spinoff to The Mandalorian and potentially lead-in event to the upcoming Filoni film.

Which, I think is a fair question... though I'd assume it's about as standalone as anything in Star Wars. You'll get enough context to watch it on its own, but those willing to connect to the greater universe will see much more payoff.

 

I want to believe Dave Filoni finally gives in to the temptations of fan service and just inserts Galen Marek into the show because why not, and I'd be a liar if I said the thought of Anakin's Padawan meeting Vader's Apprentice didn't sound really neat. However...

Realistically this is probably what's going to happen. Marrok is just going to be Marrok, a humanoid of some sort that's managed to outlive the Inquisitorious only to be struck down by Ahsoka, or Sabine, on some far-off world outside of the known galaxy.

 

Millions of nerd voices would suddenly cry out with glee. Mine included.

Man, I'm going back and forth on this.

It's like... one one hand, we've had plenty of Inquisitors that have turned out to be pretty much just what's at face value.

Spoiler: Rebels and Fallen Order spoilers

Trilla being the only exception I guess, and maybe the GI's identity as a Temple guard.

But on the other hand... why even have Marrock in this series at all, if they're not someone important? Baylan and Shin already fill the role of force sensitive enemies for Ahsoka and Sabine. A third doesn't seem particularly necessary, unless:

1) Their identity is important
or
2) Their death fulfills something that Baylan or Shin's cannot (ie, they die earlier than Baylan or Shin should).

I really cannot think of any other reason they'd be around. Even if Marrock is meant to be a minion of our main villains, they wouldn't necessarily need to be both Force Sensitive and have their identity obscured.

 

I find myself wanting something more sinister from Filoni; but I know neither will EVER happen....

I just think he's simply a cool goon/henchmen and Filoni thought of a new character to add yo the baddie group than Marrok having a particular background and identity besides ex inquisitor.

He's like Non. Extra muscle that helps Ursa and General Zod (Superman lore)
