My apologies, I know that it is a bit pretentious of me to make a post like this, but I was just talking to my wife and she asked how I am able to watch a film with awe and wonderment if I know everything going in beforehand.

I guess that the simple answer is that you know how you will hear people say "I've seen it, it is awesome, but I need to see it again to take it all in." or something similar? That is how I like to watch Star Wars. The first time is just to get the story. Second and third time I watch while looking for subtle nods and nuances that I missed the first time and I watch the backgrounds more. After that I will watch MAINLY backgrounds until I have seen it enough to have taken as much as I can from it.

For me, reading the spoilers is taking the story in. The twists and turns are still surprising and emotional, but when I go in knowing, I am set to watch for the cues and other hints that the director has put in. For me, it's fun that way and the emotional impact of surprises still carry much of the same weight as if I was just learning about them.

Going into TFA, I knew that Han was going to die, but watching it in context while knowing that it was coming was absolutely heart-breaking still.

Anyways... I know that don't jive with a lot of you, but I was just explaining that to my wife last night and a few here have asked me before, so I thought I'd post it.

HAPPY LAST JEDI WEEK and may the Force be with you!

As a responcible father and senior SW fan I have spoiled my family so we can enjoy the film.
My kids even after I draw them critical elements of the plot still can't comprehend fully the hard things they are going to see tomorrow,so I definitely helped them to at least partly understand the film, and thus enjoy it.

I loooove spoilers. I get extra hyped for the film because of them. For me it's more execution and wondering about that in advance, I hate being surprised in certain films. Star Wars is one of them.

Its insane. TLJ has so many mouth drop open moments, together with the music the visuals etc. they are real shockers.

To have them spoiled beforehand really dilutes the effect into insignificance I think.
