SPECULATION Will Rey and Finn get a Last Name/Surname by the end of the Sequel Trilogy?

Let's just hope it isn't "Rey Forcebaby" or "Rey Midi-Chlorian."

 

"Rey of light" and "Finn MCcool" (adopted child of Droopy MCcool). That would be rad.

We don't even know Finn's real first name if he ever had one.

 

Rey Smith and Finn Kowalski. Why? Both are smith-based surnames, one English, one Polish. Why smith-based? Because smiths are cool.

 

So you are clearly against Rey Skywalker

 

I think it would be nice symbolism if Rey adopted Solo as her surname, a nice reflection of being adopted by the family that Kylo was born into but rejected.

As for Finn? Something new perhaps? Skywalker just for completion sake? A bit random to give him that surname. Solo would be too on the nose in terms of "Hey look it's literally Han Solo 2.0 (black edition)". Don't even think about mentioning Windu or Calrissian.

Chewie roars and pops a snarky pulsing bark before Finn can speak.

"Chewie says your last name is 'Big-deal'."

 

Maybe Finn will if he sneaks inside the first order as picuture of the last jedi shows Finn wearing first officer uniform this means that he might have access into their computer and their data base and can find out who is his family.

Related to Rey will she find out her real surname no, I think Luke will give her a name. Just like Han Solo called Finn 'the big deal'. That Finn's surname Finn the Big Deal lol. But maybe by the end of the movie both of them might get an idea about who they come from every one in stars that is famous have a first and last name, so for sure maybe by the end of the last Jedi or 9 they both know their surname, you never know they both might be related Rey and Finn.

 

I hope Chewie just calls him Big-Deal as an inside joke lol

 

I still think Rey is a Skywalker, so I'm going to stick to that for her.

As for Finn, I don't think he'll get a last name just because where he comes from isn't important (other than his past with the First Order). I don't think he will be related to Lando for obvious reasons (although him learning that he's a Calrissian could explain Lando's absence and potentially bring him back into the story, which would be interesting—I hope that's not the case, though). Besides, we already know the main antagonist is the son of Han and Leia, and Rey is probably a Skywalker (even if she wasn't, she's almost definitely related to someone else in the Star Wars universe that we already know), and making any of the other new characters descendants of previous characters is unoriginal, boring, and unnecessary to drive the story along.

It's possible he takes on someone else's last name—which, again, is unlikely because Rey's relationship with Han was emphasized far more than Finn's was, and I don't see him having much interaction with Luke (although he could take on Leia's name, I suppose). To me, it doesn't make sense for him to take on the "Solo" or "Skywalker" names as a sign of respect or being symbolically adopted into the family, because I don't think he'll have enough of a relationship with any of the big three characters to make that possible.

I think it will end with Rey Skywalker and Finn (no last name).

 

I see your point about the whole relationship to the big three but I don't think they'd miss an opportunity for Finn to gain a last name in some touching or poignant moment.

We will know Rey's by end of this movie, Finn's won't be found out till the next movie. He will have to search for his family and it will take time.

 

Rey will get a last name. Finn will not.

 

This could happen also. Finn has no idea who his family is and the only name he is going by was made up by Poe. It could be possible that we don't ever find out what his name is, although at some point I expect him to search to find his family.

 

I think we will learn Rey's last name by the end of the ST, not so sure about Finn. Where Rey comes from has be built but Finn no so much. However, learning where Rey comes from doesn't necessarily translate into learning her last name. I'm still going for a Rey Skywalker or Solo. Haven't quite figured out how a Solo would work considering neither Han nor Lea seemed to know her. She may turn out to be Rey Ban for all I know , and Finn Faddle

 

That being said, it's already been made perfectly clear that Rey is determined to have her family back in her life, and they're a big part of it even though they're not there. She mentions them throughout The Force Awakens, and they pretty much set the film up to make her parentage a big part of who she is. It's a big part of the story, whether people like it or not. More than anything else, people want to know who Rey is because The Force Awakens makes it seem as though she's someone important, beyond just being the main protagonist and being exceptionally strong in the Force.

Finn, on the other hand, does not mention his family at all, other than the comment he makes about being taken away from a family he'll never know. The emphasis is more on him finding his place in the Resistance. Finn finding his family would seem a bit pointless because he doesn't mention a desire to find his family in The Force Awakens, and with the focus clearly on Rey, I don't think they're going to have Finn try to find his family, too. Finding his place in the Resistance will obviously be a big part of these new films, but that doesn't mean he'll take on anyone's last name. I don't see him taking on Skywalker, Solo, or Organa, and there pretty much aren't any other significant names I could see him taking on. (I'm not including Dameron because I don't think he and Poe are any more than friends; if there is any romantic relationship in these new films—which would be a bit hard because The Last Jedi apparently doesn't have any romance—it would be between Finn and Rose).

I don't know. I just don't see Finn getting some "touching or poignant moment" where he gets a last name. I could be wrong, though!

 

Not sure about FInn, but I think Rey will become either a Skywalker or Solo.

 

Fair enough I can wait for Finn's surname mystery.
