Will SW ever have an F-bomb?

One thing about SW is that there's never any curse words, yet the dialogue still manages to seem natural. In the books of the EU I remember the use of "Sith spawn" as a variant, but it hasn't made it to the movies.

With TLJ the humor was very close to that of GOTG imo. Marvel isn't littered with it, but every movie has a couple or a few it seems. Do you think we'll ever have swear words in SW, real or made up for the GFFA?

SW being aimed at 12 year olds has prevented it in the past, but it seems more acceptable now. I have no real issue either way, but I do kind of like that they manage to keep the dialogue feel natural without it, that's a skill of its own.

*This is my first thread, be gentle :)

Hey mate! Congrats on your first thread! Always love seeing something new to the thread!

First off I reckon no, because for the obvious reason it's Disney and they're pretty PC with kind of stuff so I don't really see it.

Secondly, that would presume that the F-Bomb or S-Bombs are even swear words in the SW galaxy, like their version of the C- Bomb could be Moof Milker, hahah if that makes sense?

So I wouldn't be bothered either way, but I highly doubt it :p

In the OT, Han Solo uses a few. "D___ fool, I knew you were going to say that." in ANH, and "Then I'll see you in H___!" in ESB.

SW Rebels the tv show has a few expletives; "karabast" being the most common. I could have sworn I've heard it somewhere else recently, but I can't remember where. I absolutely wouldn't mind having a few in-universe expletives like sithspawn, sithspit, skrag, kriff, or schutta.

As to the thread title, I'm not terribly fond of the word. I find it linguistically dissonant. Which is to say: it's really annoying for me to have to hear it all...the...time...

Also to OPs question, Star Wars has enough it's own curses, we don't need real world ones.

No. That just would not fit in Star Wars, imo.

R2 cusses in all 9 movies that he's been in. Don't you hear all of the whistle and beeps that occur when he speaks? I'm sure he threw out an f-bomb at some point.

No. It's not necessary. Star Wars should always remain kid friendly in that regard. More mature themes can always be explored in Star Wars without having to resort to that sort of thing. Look at RotS and ESB.

That actually is pretty close to the reason why they have had very few swear words, aside from the family-friendly angle. One reason why these moves are timeless is that they are literally set "out of time". They're not dated by the language, and that was a deliberate choice by GL. Same reason why no one uses the word "Dad" but uses "Father", and why the music is classical, and hair, makeup and clothing don't really harken to a certain time, and everything seems a little more formal. We're meant to be swept out of our current time and place into an epic saga.

Which is why, when I hear Han or Finn use the word "hell", it is a bit jarring. In TLJ in particular, I noticed a lot of non-swearing dialogue that sounds too 21st century American, when this is supposed to be taking place long, long ago in a galaxy far, far away. I hope they tighten the language up again for IX.

Disney make certain to keep their "Disney" brand free of that sort of thing.

I don't foresee them ever using the F-bomb in a Saga OR Star Wars Story film, primarily because the franchise (under Disney's leadership) seems to be doing it's absolute best to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.

If you believe in infinite parallel universes, then the entire Star Wars saga is already the most foul mouthed, filthy franchise in the galaxy!

...but in our particular universe? We will probably never hear an f-bomb in a Star Wars movie (nor do we need to in my opinion).

they're "taking star wars in a new direction". We already got a twilight shirtless scene. I'm waiting for some random titties and for them to pass it off as "a character moment" and to "convey the unwanted intimacy.".

    Artoo said it in TLJ.

That's why Luke told him to watch the language.

Couldn't agree more. I think the problem is if they start using F bombs, and even "hell" or "crap" you're opening the gate to other common slang words. Last thing I want to see is Rey get onto the Millennium Falcon with a backwards Obey hat and throw Chewie her latest mix-tape and say "Me and YoungGucci just put this fire together".... Okay I am being dramatic but ya get what I am saying hahahah.
