Well, I'm right with you there. I get the vapors when they start using contractions!

I highly doubt we’ll hear an f-bomb in a Star Wars film. That being said, I’m personally not bothered by it. I don’t find cursewords to be too modern for Star Wars (especially since The Force Awakens technically takes place in 2011). I think since “b*stard” and “*ss” are now canon curse words, they should be used a little more... in books, comics, and TV shows. The movies should probably stay away from the curses, since they’re for 12 year olds. Overall though, I think the Star Wars franchise as a whole should stick to their usual, Star Wars-y curses.

They should not do that. SW is a modern version of the Saturday matinee Republic serials.

I certainly hope not. That’s not what SW is about...Now Quentin Tarantino’s Star Trek film stands a pretty good chance of having a few F bombs thrown around

I tend to think the inclusion of "R" rated movies that were initially designed for young people is nothing more than a gimmick. Star Wars does not need it. It typically feels more like "look what we can do" more than it adding anything to the story.

Movies like Logan suffered from it some. There was little restraint when it came to language and at times it felt like the dialogue was punched up by a fourteen year old boy who curses when his parents aren't around just because they could.

Rogue One could have easily been rated R. But the story would not have benefited by adding foul language. I just don't get the appeal of it.

The use of the word hell or damn has never felt out of place in Star Wars to me.
