Same here, first on IMAX 3D and the next ones in standard 2D (no IMAX 2D option here).

I think 2D first couple of times, there'll be too much to soak in in 3D

    For me, it'll be 2D. I don't care at all about 3D.

Are there any options for 2D IMAX? There are only 2 IMAX screens in my city and they're only showing it in 3D

No way am I seeing it 3D, first of all its only converted to 3D.. and secondly I already feel it looks a little too different to the original trilogy. Adding 3D to that won't help.

I am incapable of watching 3D movies since they give me migraines and motion sickness. I'm sticking to 2D.

I'm seeing it first in 2D. For two reasons. The first is that I find action sequences can become very "busy" in 3D. This Inthink sometimes can cause a distraction from the story and I think I might miss some stuff visually. The second is that my wife sometimes gets headaches from 3D. However, I will likely take my kids back to see it 3D at a later time. I think I'll appreciate the movie better seizing it in 2D first. I'm likely in the minority though

be a completist and do both! but, enjoy it as it was meant to be seen in 3D
JJ's star trek 3D was fantastic and the TFA 3D trailers are great too i can't wait to see it in 3D
it's not like it's been retro fitted it was designed and shot with 3D in mind
also got 2D tickets for my boring 2D friends
if you can see it in IMAX 3D d-box and 4DX as i said enjoy it as it was meant to be seen

So certainly both.. but which first? Thought maybe 3d 1st for the specticle, then 2d to follow the story deeper.. curious what everyone else thinks.

Seeing twice in 2D to take it all in. Will then look at a 3D viewing.

Seeing it twice the first 2 times in Imax 3d (because there is no 2d Imax option) but for any additional viewings of which there will be several it will be in 2d.

& it was retrofitted for 3d as the only bit actually filmed in 3d was the Imax falcon chase sequence

There are no 2D offerings in my area and my best friend is loosing sleep that he needs to watch it in 3D.

The problem is that the company that has been doing the 3D conversion of The Force Awakens has a very bad track record concerning realistic 3D, i.e. after 200 yards distance there can't be anything in 3D because then it's out of our field of stereoscopic vision.

I wrote to one of Abrams' producers earlier this year to keep this in mind for The Force Awakens but it won't be before December 17th that I can see with my own eyes whether they went with cheap 3D (where planets look like balls suspended in front of the screen) or instead a realistic 3D which increasingly became a trademark of James Cameron and his productions.
