Would you cast Emily Blunt?

Not necessarily. They can introduce a character with the same name, same characteristics but create a different back story which would be the canon involved with Mara Jade. Just because the use her in some fashion does not make her previous character canon. That being said, I'm not sure what the EU fans reaction would be to be to creating a new Mara Jade. You are correct about the age thing. The only way to get a young Mara Jade would be to show her in a flashback (yes the dreaded and hated word of many Star Wars fans) where she meets Luke shortly after ROTJ, otherwise someone older would be needed.

I my head she's already cast as the lead female in a Kenobi movie (present time. If they ever went back and wanted to do a story with a young Kenobi and young Duchess Satine, I'd obviously cast someone different).

Absolutely. She's very talented and has an imposing presence despite her fragile appearance. She would make a great addition to SW.

She would be a great addition as a relative of Mon Mothma or a senator.

She's a young, petite, brunette, Brit - assuming Kathleen Kennedy remains the head of Lucasfilm, I'd say Emily Blunt getting cast in a Star Wars film is inevitable.

Personally, I think—at least for the Skywalker saga—every trilogy has had relatively unknown leads, and it's worked that way. That's not to say that having more well-known actors could be a mistake. I actually think Emily Blunt in particular could be great in a Star Wars film. If I were in Kathleen Kennedy's shoes, my first move would not be to hire a bunch of A-list actors and actresses, but I think someone like Emily Blunt could do a great job in a future Star Wars film, to be honest.

I would cast her as stormtrooper TR-8R's sister now that she has US citizenship. She has renounced the Queen and disowned the UK! Boooo!
    ;)
