Note: REBO also has an article on this on the main SWNN.com web page. Head on over...

The person who helped save STAR WARS

    upload_2015-11-17_7-20-19.png

This article from Wired really got me thinking about things. Will I be around when the Final Star Wars film comes? Wow! this is an interesting aspect that I never thought about.

When the first Star Wars came out I was nearly 6 years old. The prequels came out when I was 30 years old and now they are essentially re-booting (don't go crazy people on the word reboot), reviving the franchise when I am 43 years old. Man, I really may not see the final Star Wars film ever.....

Just some crazy thoughts and a great article by WIRED

You Won’t Live to See the Final Star Wars Movie

    WIRED
    AP11/17/2015

The company intends to put out a new Star Wars movie every year for as long as people will buy tickets. Let me put it another way: If everything works out for Disney, and if you are (like me) old enough to have been conscious for the first Star Wars film, you will probably not live to see the last one. It’s the forever franchise.

Yeah that is kind of depressing to be honest. But let's not forget this quote from TPM:

Obi-Wan Kenobi: But Master Yoda says I should be mindful of the future.
Qui-Gon Jinn: But not at the expense of the moment.

And the moment is TFA! :D

If I don't live to see the final Star Wars movie, it simply means that the franchise has remained successful, which can't be a bad thing, can it?

Weird that they labeled Hux in the rally photo as Kylo.

Yeah that's a bit of the "problem" with long term franchises... (I have a bit of the same fear with Brandon Sanderson's Cosmere novels...)
But we can't really complain if it means that, at least, most of the movies were awesome!

You don't have my option in the poll - I've seen it on TV.

I was 18 months old when ANH was released. By the time I was old enough to sit through 2-hour-movie AND read subtitles, all three films in OT were released. Every holiday, our TV stations would play big sci-fi/fantasy films usually on consecutive days - all Superman movies, all Star Wars, all Star Trek...- so I've seen them there. So, they were always in my life.

What do you mean "You will not live to see the last SW movie"? I will live forever. And, if impossible happens, and I do die - Force ghosts can watch movies too. ;)

I really think that it is really awesome that there will be Star Wars movies for a long long time and I really wouldn't find it a bad thing that as long as I live there will always be a new movie for me to look forward too. The only thing I hope that doesn't happen is for me to be left hanging with a clifhanger like ESB before I die!

OR you can see it in a more positive way.

The expectation of another Star Wars episode MAY prolong your life.

Talking my experience, having though though time this and last years, The Force Awakens, ultimately, may have been part of saving my life.

Or just think about Daniel and his fight against cancer.

Yes, Star Wars is that powerful.

If it is a "forever franchise" doesn't that mean there won't be a final star wars?

Don't scare me like that...I thought it was going to refer to some impending asteroid strike or virus outbreak before episode 9 could come out.

I tell you right now, if that last movie ends like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug...
"I will show you revenge! I am fire! I am death!", cut to black, roll credits.
I will die as an angry person!

It would be pretty selfish of me to presume I get to be in the last generation of people to see a new Star Wars movie.

Since Disney will keep making Star Wars movies as long as people want to see them - and since people will want to see them as long the movies being made are good ones, I'm going to hope that the last Star Wars movie comes along well after my death.

Assuming I live to be the average age for a man in my demographic, I'd say the odds are pretty good that Star Wars will outlast me. Even if the run of Star Wars movies that starts next month only lasts for the 6 movies they already have planned, Disney won't give up on it completely until they've attempted a couple of reboots across the years. Star Wars has become such a giant part of our pop culture, that it's sort of like asking when will we see the last Dracula movie? Or Flash Gordon? Or even Sherlock Holmes?
