Ren and Rey related makes perfect sense, as you often get multiple twin sets in family lines

A slow burner on force using and limited lightsabers is a must, you don't need loads of sabers to sell it. I wanted a lightsaber as soon as I saw one, and there's not a lot in ANH

It's a given that there will be some form of "kid" and "cutesy" stuff. There has to be something that appeals to children (BB-8 anyone?); after all, toys will be made from the characters of the movies. I agree though that it shouldn't be too overbearing that it detracts from the films' moments.

    1. Night Sisters
    2. Whills
    3. Sith spells and sorcery
    4. Ghosts of Mortis type weirdness
    5. Wilhelm screams. Just kidding, I couldn't think of a fifth

    In no particular order:
    1. Someone becoming a Sith by finding a holocron or by just deciding to call themselves one.
    2. Armies of lightsaber-wielders. I hated it in AOTC and the SWTOR trailers.
    3. The Jedi incorrectly thinking that the Sith are extinct again.
    4. Prequel-like Jedi (meaning Jedi that train from birth, forbid attachments, dress like moisture farmers, etc.)
    5. The Sith returning without an expnation for how they defied the prophecy.
    6. The governing bodies and leaders not appearing.
    7. Fallen Jedi.
    8. Evil Skywalker children.

Sorry about having 8. I couldn't narrow it down to 5.

What's wrong with Sith spells and sorcery?

Oh, come on! :p I agreed with everything but #3. The hidden "black-magic?" type stuff is what gives the Sith their nasty, spooky, dangerous feel. If they were just people with different colored lightsabers then the Jedi; We might as well call them Jedi Antonyms. No harsh feelings. :) I don't think Jedi Antonyms is the correct way to put it... But hopefully you get the meaning

It just feels out of place to me. Trying to picture someone like Vader cackling over a steaming cauldron of dianoga eyes and worrt's feet seems out of character.

5)No holding onto nostalgia, accept what is.
    4)No sleeping during the film.
3)No missing out on opening week.
2)No complaining about minutiae because the movie doesn't match what I expect.
    1) No letting others perceived disappointment or negativity bleeding over into me not enjoying the movie.

    I don't want:

    1. A bad story
    2. bad acting
    3. too many fast cuts /shaky cam or zoom all the time
    4. too much in darkness filmed scenes
    5. Luke Skywalker dying before Han Solo

6.Luke and Leia having kids together :D we don't know yet what happened after RotJ
(I think there is a small chance/posibility that things like inbreeding can happen in a galaxy far far away)
    Just look at this guy:

    1. Re-visiting places we already know well in the galaxy. Hopefully, Jakku is not tattooine renamed.

    2. Predictable plot stereotypes. Solutions to plot problems should not be obvious. The ST needs meaningful problems as well as ominous, menacing villains. I love OT because Vader continues to be the most dangerous and scary villain I have ever seen on screen. Also, The end of the second act needs to be really good. The Death Star going to destroy Yavin, Han captured with Luke on the way there, and the Death Star being operational over Endor, all great plot twists setting up great victories.

    3. Exploiting the OT events for the ST plot structure. The prophecy on the chosen one was fulfilled. hopefully JJ and crew let the events of OT mean something historically, an end of an era. Thus, the ST should focus on the next generation's challenges that reasonably arise out of post ROTJ events.

    4. Overt Fan service stuff that takes us out of the galaxy far far away. I really hope they also have the sense to avoid a boba fett cameo (I knew he's alive!), anything jar jar, like him falling down a giant coruscant elevator shaft (oops daisy, Yousa gonna die this time Jar Jar), or a cheesy Solo and skywalker extended family portrait hologram at the end, complete with force ghosts. (If so, there better be a Yoda photobomb!). Lets also hope that any fans that were in the movie can sufficiently hide their giddiness of being in a Star Wars movie. I would have probably been kicked off set for that. (JJ on the bull horn: "Cut!! Let's do that again. Hey you, yeah you on the left. last time checked, storm troopers do not skip when running into battle.")

    5. 5 seconds of Luke at the end. Unless, the Jedi Order is pretty much defunct, Luke has to have a significant role in EP VII. He should be directing the new characters actions in the third act of EPVII. I do not believe the story can be meaningfully passed on to the new cast if Luke does not play a central role.

    - Any mention / suggestion of Earth / other successful movie franchises -- keep the GFFA
    - Overly childish comic relief droids
    - People sitting around discussing action instead of showing action
    - Surprise Jedi Order 66 survivors
    - Silly musical numbers....

    That's a big NOOOOO IMO.
    My turn.
    No bad starts to relationships.
    No broken lightsabers.
    No shortage of lives lost.
    No poor new quotes
    No happy ending.

I wouldn't mind another I-have-a-bad-feeling line, but maybe they could hold off with it until Episode 9. I can picture Finn saying it.
