    With C-3P0 I am happy to see the red arm, it really adds to the used universe feel. You see it and immediately know that it hasn't been sunshine and lollipops for him and by extension that Leia and the Alliance/Resistance/Republic has had a rough time, too. Its a great way too telegraph info to the audience without dialogue.

    The TIE just looks awesome. I love the non symmetrical markings and it signals that these are Imperials, but different. Identity matters for some reason and I can't wait to find out why.

    As for the left side... no clue.

    I hadn't heard anything about the left-side-red, but I had heard that J.J. dropped several "Beastie Boys" references throughout the film. What's odd is that now that you pointed it out, I can't imagine how I hadn't noticed it sooner.

    A WILD theory, but what if, at one point, The FO had Threepio, and THreepio has some secrets of The FO within him, similar to how Artoo had important information on The Rebel Alliance in ANH?

    The sides on those TIE fighters look like they can rotate or something. Maybe some adaptation for flying in atmospheres?
