Some parts have already nearly been made canon by Plagueis' mentions in Tarkin. Plagueis is quoted as having said, "The Force can strike back," which is implicative of his "unnatural" meddling with the dark side having compelled the Force itself to create Anakin Skywalker.

Of course, this is all speculation, but it would serve the dream of an overarching narrative that I described earlier.

The 9-story arc would then become how Plagueis, the most powerful Sith Lord of all time, tried to warp the Force, inadvertently creating the Skywalker bloodline, beings birthed from the Force itself, and how they eventually brought about his downfall. It would justify both the story still beginning with Episode I (the discovery of Anakin Skywalker, the first in this line of beings) and ending with IX (when the Skywalker bloodline finally defeats he who inadvertently brought about their existence).

Put simply, Star Wars is now the saga of the rise and fall of Darth Vader. If the above were to happen, Star Wars would become a trilogy of trilogies telling the legend of the Force’s attempt to defeat its greatest threat from the dark side.

Like I said, this is all pretty wild speculation, and likely only the impossible dreams of a fanboy. But what a story if they could pull that off!

I haven't found a good reason to post until this one... I really hope that this is the way it goes. Also, making the Darth Plagueis book canon later to hide the fact that he is the new "uber" is definitely a possibility!

    Long Live Dead Darth Plagueis!

In this same thread, I came up with a quote about Plagueis declaring that he is the master of "the Dark Side and the Light". I mean, it sounds cool and all, but what if it were actually true? We've only seen people with powers of the Dark Side, or powers of the Light Side, but not both. But what if someone had dominion of the Dark and Light Sides? No way, you say, you can't join two opposing things. However, I once posted a thought about what the "balance of the Force" meant. Essentially, the Dark and Light Sides need each other to strike a balance. So it could make sense.
I'm sure that many people have been wondering about this, but maybe a way to make Darth Plagueis the ultimate baddie to end all ultimate baddies would be to give him the FULL POWER OF THE FORCE. In ESB, Vader threatens Luke by lamenting if he "only knew the power of the Dark Side". But had Vader said the "full power of the Dark Side and the Light", Luke would know that he is facing a master of something that binds us all.

The title "The Force Awakens" also lends some credibility to this idea. Although he's not considered legit anymore, I'd like to quote Spoilerman on his claim to what the premise of the film is:

"The premise of the film is that the Force has become stronger and more potent. There is a great tremor in the Force early in the film; those familiar with the Force feel as if its fundamental nature has somehow changed, while previously oblivious Force-sensitive individuals suddenly realize that they have a gift. This creates a great dichotomy of where to go, because neither Luke nor the antagonists are ready for this new liberation of awareness."

I completely agree with this interpretation; it makes sense if they want to take this trilogy deeper than the others. But it also implies that the Force is no longer being held back by "Dark Side vs. Light Side", but instead "Dark Side and Light Side". Now, the Force is used as a whole, instead of its smaller, less powerful aspects. Darth Plagueis can still be evil but he can be a master of the entire Force, giving him abilities that transcend loopy lightsaber gymnastics and instead focus on bigger, better things. *Cough*Creating life*Cough*

I apologize if this is long and hard to follow, but I think that Serkis' words in the teaser ("the Dark Side and the Light") carry a greater meaning; soon, the galaxy shall feel the full power of the Force, of the Dark Side and the Light!

He's ridin' dirty. If the Imperial police stop him, they'll ask the usual questions ... "Do you have any drugs or lightsabers in your compartments?"

From a literary point of view, having Plagueis as the puppet master would be the perfect way to tie all three films together. If you look at the official cannon hints (Ep. 3's reference to DP's quest for immortality) to the non-cannon book "Darth Plageuis" (the constant references to DP feeling the power of the other Sith's from before, essence transfer, etc). It seems that if he is not the ultimate bad guy for the trilogy of trilogies, then that is at least what some writers (or G.L. himself) were thinking of by leaving of these clues / plot devices. If DP learned the ancient Sith power of essence transfer, then he could have transferred his essence into someone (Sideous) or something. My question is: is there any precedent in any of the EU (I know they are non-cannon) stories where a Sith Lord transferred his/her essence to someone unbeknownst to the victim? Thus, the transferred Sith's essence could "hide-out" in a host until a certain time.

Or, Sideous just thought he was dead, as Plageuis wanted him to, but he actually transferred his essence unbeknownst to Sideous. Reread the first chapter of Sarth Plageuis with this in mind and it may open up some new thoughts about this possibility.

Totally agree with you. That's my hope, is that they'll find some wonderful way to connect all three trilogies into a cohesive arc that begins with Episode I and ends with Episode IX. After that, I'm totally open to them making something like an Old Republic trilogy.
