    The Hollywood Reporter has stuck to their guns and says that he was outright fired by Lucasfilm.

    Him "leaving" a Star Wars project - after describing it as his dream project - because Fantastic Four fans were mean to him makes absolutely no sense whatsoever as an excuse. (If you can't handle the heat, stay out of the kitchen.)

    He didn't say "Fantastic Four was a big enough challenge; I don't think I'm ready to tackle a Star Wars movie." (Which is acceptable; J. J. Abrams said something similar when people first asked him about directing Episode VII, until Kathleen Kennedy came along and convinced him to hop aboard.) What he said was something to the effect of "I couldn't handle what mean fans on the internet said." (Even though Star Wars fans and Fantastic Four fans are two completely different sets of people, and generally speaking, you shouldn't pay attention to what people say about you on the internet as a professional unless it's related to some kind of controversy that needs to be addressed.)

    agree. Do you think the inside out stuff has any legitimacy to it? I know you debunked one twitter claim that claimed someone saw it at a focus group for inside out, yet the rumour is hanging around like a bad smell :D

    John Schnepp said on the the latest AMC Jedi Council that WB "seems to be running" how comic con will play out with marvel's pull out, so i doubt WB wants TFA attention stealing the show. D23 just ticks all the boxes, IMO.
