Yes, I think you may be right.

With Han Solo being my favorite character I have to admit that the EU books I hated the most were the Corellian trilogy where basically it was a family sitcom -- the Brady Bunch in outer space. Han as a domesticated man really changed his character IMO.

JJ and Kasdan perhaps feel that Han is one of those loners who just have to be alone. :p It might even have a greater emotional impact -- him and Leia never really making it but love each other nonetheless.

I think she is a bit old to be having the baby now... but...

I want to draw everyone's attention back to this:

JJ was already at the helm... and I doubt that this occurred without clearance and permission... funny, I grant you... but were they foreshadowing more than just amusement? I doubt Chewie slept with Leia, but the idea that Han is alienated from Leia... and maybe his lifelong best buddy... were they gauging audience reaction?

It just seems a waste of time on the movie screen to have Han and Leia hating on each other but really are in love and try to work it out when we've already seen that story. There's plenty of storyline for them as a couple, parents, individually, professionally and what not. I assume that there will be a new love story (or stories) developing with the new characters.

Ok, I am about to impart great wisdom here... pay close attention:

    George Lucas lies

He lies his ass off, and what he says today is the way it always was isn't what he said yesterday was absolute fact... we could start, and end, with "Han shot first" but there are plenty of examples... look at the article you posted:

First, there was ONE movie, and he didn't even know if it was gonna succeed. He hired Allan Dean Foster to write a throw-away sequel, Splinter of the Mind's Eye, which he then promptly threw away when Star Wars was successful. Star Wars became Episode IV: A New Hope, which was really the way it always was supposed to be, but really wasn't. Then there was a sequel... no wait, it was 12 movies all together (so there could be 24 hours of Star Wars running at all times in a theater somewhere far, far away) and 9 movies (this is the "middle" trilogy, which is the most exciting, but VII-IX are where the most action is, and those are the ones I really want to see) etc etc etc

Riiiiight... and Boba Fett wasn't added in to Episode IV, for what reason? Oh yeah, because he was a fan favourite, and it was just really neat to do, and it distracted people from noticing that Han bobbing up and down over Jabba's tail didn't look quite right, and WHY in god's name, if you were gonna release Special Editions, did you NOT fix that annoying black magic marker stain on the Emperor's robe... but I digress...

I have much love in my heart for Lucas, but the man is a pathalogical liar...

If the movie opens with Han cooking burgers in front a white picket fence, then we have a wonderful Ozzie and Harriet moment...

If the film opens with Leia not speaking to Han, Han not speaking to Chewie, Luke missing and presumed dead... the audience will have less hope that the galaxy will survive

I don't know but I'm becoming more and more convinced that it's going to be Solo (Driver) v. Solo (Ridley). So, might Han and Leia be estranged? Yeah. Do they have kids with other people? No. Han and Leia having kids links all three main characters to each other as family and makes them invested in the new generation, so, to me anyway, it's a given.

The Skywalker Lineage is strong in the Force, so why not use their family and show how dysfunctional it could be when they all have great powers, and be tempted in a galaxy full of temptations.

It would be interesting if Ridley were a Solo through an affair he had... which is why she is stashed away...

Don't think it will happen, but it would be interesting

Just saw the new episode of Star Wars Rebels and it rocked in my opinion.
Anyways some interesting thing happened (without spoilers)and made me wonder and think that maybe Ezra will or could be connected to The Force Awakens in some ways.

Maybe has been said already but, Outer Rim High Command refers to Tarkin. It was briefly mentioned near the beginning of the series by Sabine or Hera when they were delivering goods to the pirate like figure. One of them mention how he is in control of the Outer Rim.

Check out her bio. Has some interesting information on whose lightsaber it could be.

It appears that both Ridley and Driver are strong in the force, so Han would have had to had an affair with a woman who was also force sensitive. And, again, this is a movie with the Disney logo attached to it so we have to be a little cautious about Days of Our Lives storylines.

I have another interesting theory behind that date. It does point to the comic book's release date and the comic itself is pretty identical to what we know of Kira's character. What if someone on the Rebels crew isn't happy about that? The Rebel's crew worked on Star Wars for years under Lucas and are probably the biggest experts out there on the subject. If the film crew decided to start taking complete story ideas from EU comic books (current ones even) then maybe its something the Rebel's crew didn't like. They snuck this date into the vid screen to show fans that the upcoming film has it's story taken from this EU comic book.

And I quote: "She was my wife, you Wookiee sack of s--t!"

You are assuming that only a Force user can beget a Force user... all people can use the Force, some are just more attuned to it. In the Clone Wars, Yoda even urged the clone troopers to open themselves up to the Force, that they were capable of hearing its call.

My comments early are the same. TFA is way more important to Disney than rebels. If Dave did that they would fire him. They can find someone else to produce rebels. Given away the plot of TFA would be immediate grounds for firing him and he hasn't been fired. I'm sure Dave knows the basic plot of TFA too. I believe this because they wouldn't want a story arc that is the same as the movie.
