That's a good question. Not sure what the answer would be. If she is a good character it really shouldn't matter but there will be those who will respond negatively. There will others who will like it. I think there will likely be positive and negative reactions no matter who she is related to because many have their heart set on a certain outcome

 

Is she implying that Episode VII will be a forgettable movie?

Well now we're all in trouble.

I think it's more that her head space is Episode VIII (she started filming that this past September) and where it sets the stage for Episode IX at the end of the script.

Well, I can type this part out.

 

Although it's a bit confusing when you shoot out of sequence and some scenes you aren't in, so it's typical she's a bit confused about Episode VII. Plus principal photography finished last year as well. Nothing to be worried about, IMO.

 

Well I wouldn't be surprised because it's the sort of stupid thing I would expect JJ and kasden to write thinking it would be clever.
But I think it would be very negative considering she's the lead character of the 7th chapter of a Saga about the Skywalker family.

 

I throw out Rey Palpatine out as a joke from time to time but its only a half joke. cause I love the idea of Luke chosing the grand daughter of Palpatine over his nephew and trying to explain it to Leia and Han. Point being there are stories that could be told that follow from the OT that might not have a new Skywalker.

People seem to love these sort of damned if you do or don't. People are mad its too obvious and mad its not obvious enough. Mad its being telegraphed too loud and mad if its not true.

Let them tell you the story. It might be good.

Why would you ask? never saw a Jedi punching anyone, martial arts tough.

Are you asking as general exercise nothing related to preparation for her role?

 

just as a general exercise yes.

 

I would be negatively surprised, everything they did so far, from the cast itself, her physical appearance, the way they framed her on the first picture of the table read, the things KK have being saying about the new trilogy being about the Skywalker (i'm on the camp that a Solo if is Leia's too is a Skywalker by default), if she isn't related that would mean everything they did so far was to throw people off and have a reversed twist.

I hate the plot twist for the sake of having a twist, that's something M Night Shyamalan would make in his latest bad movies, for me is a cheap writing trick, that is being used more and more in modern movies.

 

I totally think she is a Solo.

But

If they go another way all the hype that pointed to her being the Skywalker is wasn't misdirection its about the legacy of Luke Skywalker being broader than genetics. And she will be an adopted heir grafted in. A spiritual daughter. Everyone bemoans the demystification of the force after the midichlorean reveal but they want to keep the force based on genetics.

 

I don't think being hereditary is based on Genetics, is more a mythological thing, in the greek Mythology the off-spring of the Gods would have extreme powers and be Demi-God, for some reason the Force choose this family the Skywalker to shape the fate of the galaxy, in my opinion it have nothing to do with Mid-Clorians or genetic just the way the force works.

considering the themes of the OT that are obvious throughout TFA, personal theory i quite enjoy and hope is right,

Luke is her father, something happens where luke not only goes into solitude but also gives up his daughter to close friends for protection, she is so young that by the time she is on jakku she only knows that clan people who were "her family", on skellig luke tells her the truth

 

Larry Kasdan gave an interview about talking to GL about the force. Back when they were working together and Lucas explained that anyone has access to the force just not everyone taps into it. Obviously the phrases like the force runs strong in you and in your family throw wrenches into that idea. But I don't think things like that are either or. Its both. Like I said I think she is a Solo but there is plenty of room for them to think outside the box.

 

Luke got a woman pregnant, had a child, and didn't tell Leia or Han about any of this? Luke dumped his kid on Jakku instead of informing Leia and/or Han to take care of them? Luke then disappears.

Rey should stab Luke with the Lightsaber when she comes across him if that was the case. "Thanks a lot, a**hole."
