An interesting parallel between Kylo and Rey: At the end of the film both are about to train. Rey with Luke, Kylo with Snoke.
It's like Empire Strikes Back but mirrored.

Not surprising I think she did a good job acting but this movie did everything it could to give Daisy an awesome character vehicle in Rey...they literally set out to make the most awesome girl power character ever with every skill they could think of. Shame they didnt give some other characters some of that awesome sauce.

For obvious reasons, she can take care of herself and didn't need the help of a man. She didn't need to be dragged around by the "hero". THe point is emphasized when she offers HER hand to help Finn up. They were making the point that Rey is not a damsel in distress. SHE is a hero in her own right.

But I think they also make the point that although she is unwilling to take Finn's hand in the beginning, she has to learn to allow others to help her up as well. Yes she is a hero but she also needs help.

I think it shows, if anything, Finn is the one that needs help. She didn't need any help.

She definitely needed help. She received help from him immediately, she was just annoyed that she had to do so.

Surely I'm not the only one who noticed this frame in the vision? It could be nothing, the lighting may have been odd, but this caught my eye.

Where did she need help? I think you're missing the whole aspect of her being much more adept at flying, fixing the falcon, fighting, talking to droids, etc. It was even reported to Kylo, "He had help from a girl."

I should be quoting a few people, but since so many said something similar I will just give all of you in this thread all of the credits!!!

I love that her name is Rey, and I hope that is her real name and not some alias. Just the idea of her being the one to "light up" or penetrate the darkness is something that gives me goosebumps.

Other stuff: I'm convinced Luke is the father and if that's the case, I hope they don't pull the "your mother died protecting you" trope. I want Rey's mother to be alive.

The criticism I understand the least is that she can understand, to some extent, several languages.....It's like people are removing all reason from their minds in order to hate on her. She lives on a junkyard planet with gangsters and dealers from probably hundreds of different species for 14 years....In real life, it takes about a year to become fluent with a language IF you need to learn it in order to reasonably survive or even just function in the society, so anyone criticizing her for speaking a little alien now and then is just being silly.

Need some clarification on what that is. My two thoughts are it's Rey or Thrawn, lol.

    - Finn takes her hand and tells her to run. She would have been blown up otherwise. She resents taking his hand.
    - Finn comes up with the plan to save them from the intruders on the Falcon. Turns out it's not necessary, but without him she had no plan.
    - Finn rescues Rey from Starkiller base. She had escaped her cell but had no way off of the base.
    - Finn defends Rey after she is knocked cold by Kylo Ren in the woods. Without Finn she was completely defenseless and would have been killed or captured.

Yes, Rey is very strong with the force and has lots of abilities but the movie clearly shows that she needs Finn's help. Finn comes up with many plans and does a lot of heroic things in the movie. He is the co-lead and only together were they able to save the day.

Rey's Survival Guide has details that she practiced droidspeak and alien languages in her AT-AT home, along with the flight simulators.

What am I supposed to see? It just looks like a poor bootleg with rough pixels all over the place?

I just got back from a fourth time. I think the more I watch, the more I end up loving Rey's Character and everything.

I cannot wait for a Blu-ray so I can take a screenshot of the Shot of her and kylo in the forest. The blue-lightsaber above her, and the Red in the snow, almost as if they are on the same hilt for a double-bladed saber.

That fight is gorgeous color and choreography wise.

To me Rey's face looked different. Particularly her lips and her chin. It was a shot that lasted a split second, and yes I appreciate this is a shitty bootleg. It's probably nothing but I am not the only one who noticed this.

She resents heis trying to drag her around like a little girl. She runs faster than him without his "help". My point is that they saved each other in the end... but at the beginning of the movie she needs no help. He THINKS she does, and she's insisting and proving she actually doesn't. They were clearly making a point in those early interactions that Rey can take care of herself. They flipped it intentionally with her helping him up after the blast. She got his help, but I contend, she didn't need it.
