I agree to disagree. Rey needed help. She would've been blown up 5 minutes into the movie without him.

 

Yelling RUN. OK. He helped her.

 

Rey in the Falcon would have been gunned down/blown up by Ties were it not for Finn.

 

While I agree with the other user that Rey didn't need his help, specially not as much as Finn thought she did, she's a survivor on her own, you have a point here that she learned in this movie to let others in, to trust Finn as a friend and an ally. She's very touched and thankful when she realizes they came back for her in Starkiller base and that it was Finn's idea. She's self-sufficient, independent and resourceful but she's also very glad to know someone has her back now IMO. She's not alone anymore.

 

Forgive me if this has already come up...

What if she has no Father? What if, like Anakin Skywalker she has been created by forces as yet not fully explained? What if she has been brought into being by the work of the deceased but still operative Jedi, whom we all know of? What if Luke knows about this, what if 'Snoke' knows about her too.

I think this is the mystery that will be explored in this trilogy further. The creation of Anakin Skywalker and the creation of Rey. My speculation is that Anakin was created by the Sith (Plaguies?), whilst Rey is from the Jedi's. I mean if its happened once....? If true it would represent a huge risk by the Jedi, as she could be seduced, but it would be a bold move in the ongoing battle against the dark side and make for some good storytelling.

Would explain a lot. Why she has such natural force power, Why she was hidden and why we hear Obi wan in the flashback are just 3.

Perhaps Rey is of far more signicance than most have speculated so far?

 

Here goes:

Rey is Luke's daughter. Luke is in hiding because of the Knights of Ren and Snoke. He sees them as too powerful to defeat by himself. They destroyed all his students and his best student ever (Kylo) is their leader. Despite all of Luke's power, he knew he could not defeat all 7 of the Ren and Snoke by himself, especially as Luke grew older.

Luke saved a few very young students (Rey and maybe a few others). Then, he Jedi mind-tricked the toddlers into forgetting they knew the force and that massacre had ever happened. Luke scatters the toddlers throughout the galaxy for their safety. Luke goes into hiding until a later time when he can retrieve all the students safely, after they age and are more prepared to train quickly and defeat the KOR and Snoke.

Snoke is able to sense the force in people and where they are located, which is why the KOR were able to find Luke's order and destroy them. It is also why Snoke sensed the Force Awakening in Rey. The wrench in Luke's plan is that Rey "awoke" too early due to the events in TFA. Luke knows Snoke will sense her and be coming for her. Now Luke will be forced out of exile early to complete Rey's training (and maybe others). Another twist may be that Luke was hoping to defeat the KOR and Snoke without Rey's help and only retrieve her later so that she would be safe and not have to risk her life against the KOR and Snoke (which is another reason why he is so emotional when he sees her at the end of TFA).

 

There are only two scenarios I have ever liked leading up to the film and they remain the only two I like. Both were outlined so well by others.

Personally, I still wish she is Han and Leia's daughter, and the seemingly recognizing looks and the quick cuts when ever characters begin to discuss her have me holding out hope. But the unrelated aspect has a nice feel to it given the"Awakening" aspect. Also revealing her as a Solo might have too much for a ESB vibe.

This why as much as her being Kylo's sister has always been my preferred story, at this point I hope they don't go that way.

 

Even if she is just another Skywalker, there definitely seems to be more to her than meets the eye*. We could see a big twist in VIII, possibly involving Snoke.

*she's Bumblebee from Transformers, duh.

 

Biggest clue of all that Rey was trained is in the flashback and it took me three times seeing the movie to catch it. Notice what little Rey is wearing?

 

I loved the concept of Brother and Sister, but after seeing the movie, i'm leaving the Solo camp

It makes sense for the character for the story going on, she must be Luke's Skywalker daughter, i don't see other way

 

I've only seen the film once am going again tomorrow, I wondered if she was wearing the little padwan pigtail, it was so fast I could not recollect, does she have one?

 

I've been saying 1 million times to all the idiots screaming Mary Sue out there, that's a Padawan outfit

a 5 6 years old in a Padawan outfit means she was extremely prodigious extreme precocity, just like her Grandpa

 

No. It wasn't that. More like padawan attire. The scene moves so fast I cannot tell about the pigtail thing and I've tried to see if she had one, but she doesn't actually turn her head around to see.

 

The island is the first Jedi temple. Luke went there after the crap hit the fan.

 

Exactly! Why would she be wearing a dessert looking outfit at her previous planet, that's cause its not.

 

I know that it had been brought up about the flight simulator as part of the reason Rey is skilled at flying but there is a quick line in the movie when Rey and Finn are congratulating each other on their shooting and flying where Rey makes a statement along the lines of she has flown before but never off the planet. I missed it the first time but caught it the second time.

The hair of the little girl looked very similar to the way Rey currently is wearing her hair in my opinion.

For the purpose of the story, I would want her to be a Skywalker, as Luke's daughter. But if that's the case, they would have to explain why Snoke doesn't know who she is. He seems surprised when he learns of her powers asking Ren if what he says about her is true. This is too glaring an overlook for someone whom is "wise". If he knows Ben's background/lineage, he should know hers.

 

Little Rey has the same hair style as scavenger Rey. Maybe she thought it would be easier for her family to recognize her that way

About the outfit, it doesn't look like a padawan outfit to me.
