I have seen the new trailer a few times already and the more I see it, the more it's made to look as if Rey is the main hero, not Finn.

Also in the last two trilogies, the female lead has either been a sidekick and/or love interest to the hero.

Yeah, the Luke/Anakin imagery is not a coincidence.

Why does anyone think Finn the the hero over Rey?

Every single image of agin that we've seen shows a hot, sweaty, terrified, out of breath mess, while Rey appears confident and determined.

If Finn's supposed to be the hero, I'm going to be pretty disappointed.

Some folks just assumed they wouldn't make a female the lead. However we have known since Rian's tweet that this was really a non-issue.

Reading the Current Rumours Thread over at The Force.NET forums about the scene where the Falcon crash lands on the snow planet, there are four people on board (Han, Chewie, Finn and Rey) yet who ends up getting taken captive? Rey.

But why her and not Finn? Why capture her instead of killing her?

Boyega is lead unfortunatley. You can tell by the way he was built up at celebration, the clothes - with sabre, top billing. It all points towards Finn as the lead character. But its Abrams what was I expecting?

LOL. JJ didn't buildup anybody. It's quite clear that they all got equal treatment.

People seems to forget that we have got leaked descriptions from 2 different toy lines confirming her to be the lead hero. And then there is the ending, not only it is all from her POV, she gets to meat Luke alone. This kind of ending works best if you are following the lead hero.

@soulluos Did you make this? Its an excellent picture of the rhyming nature of the Star Wars story. I think this is the best evidence we've had that Rey will be part of the Skywalker lineage (probably through Han/Leia).

I meant evidence wise its stalking up in Finn's favour. Don't misconstrue what I said, am sorry I did not explain myself properly. I was talking about the whole event not the opening night interview panel.

Again I will bring up how I think the movie will depict Finn as a sort of red herring hero. Think Wolverine in the first X-Men, for over half the film he thinks Magneto is chasing after him until SPOILER he's actually after Rogue instead.

In that same sense everyone is thinking Finn is this prophesied force user that Kylo Ren is chasing until their first duel (after the Falcon crashes) where it is revealed to actually be Rey. This is the scene I think is depicted in a couple pieces of concept art.

VII is about Rey accepting her destiny. After finally accepting it, she leaves to meet Luke to start her training. Very simple, LOL.

It's how to reconcile Finn being depicted with the lightsaber in things like toys, but Rey having the lightsaber in concept art and in leaks.

Also I am writing a novel about someone who discovers this prophecy about him is a lie so the plot device is on my mind anyway

Also, some people use billing order as an excuse with John being billed first over Daisy. But I think back to the first Superman movie when people bring this up. Who was billed first in that movie? Marlon Brando, who was not at all Superman.

It was the same thing with the first Burton Batman film; Jack Nickolson was the Joker, but he got first billing over Micheal Keaton (It was one of his conditions for taking the role).

And another reason why some people still think Finn is the hero? The freakin' lightsaber. They do know having a lightsaber doesn't make them the hero, right? I mean Anakin didn't have one in TPM, and Luke didn't really use his in ANH, and that seems to be yet another tradition Rey is following.

It doesn't matter who made it. The cards came out MONTHS ago. Put Rey's speeder on it. My point is the plaque might have been made by someone other than the builder it's got the Disney and Lucasfilm logos on it. Why put a fake name on it? I think it's a little dig at us to make us curious and then not confirm it till later. More Mind F**king from JJ to us.

The guys who made the droids for TFA were fans that were part of an R2 builders club. I believe they also made BB-8. No one is calling BB-8 by some codename. He's BB-8. Not sure if they actually used this prop in the movie but I don't think you B.S. the people spending hours making a prop.
