According to storyboards I looked at, yes, there was the consideration of having Padme becoming a Dark Lady of the Sith. It is obvious why they didn’t go that route, but the ideal is tantalizing.

I did a little research and according to this article she was going to try to kill Anakin with a knife but hesitate, followed by what we saw in the finished movie. They show the picture above, citing the artist. There's no mention of her becoming a Sith.

    Hmmm.. I found this:

According to the concept, padme was starting the Rebellion and seeing Anakin has become a monster was going to assassinate him. But she can’t..

This lines up with the deleted ROTS scenes were Padme is meeting in secret with Bail Organa, and other senators who see Palpatine is a dictator. I wish these scenes would have been kept in the movie because then we would see Mace and the Jedi were not alone in seeking to quell Palyps’ ambitions; that the coupe de grace was supported by Senators, including Padme.

It woukd have also made the scene were Padme tells Anakin, “what if the Republic we have so desperately tried to defend is lost and now we are the evil we’ve been fighting against.” Anakin reaponds, “now your beginning to sound like a Separatist!” This woukd be were Padme is testing the waters to see if Ani would join the Rebellion.

I completely understand this confusion towards their relationship and I think it boils down to blinded love. Padame simply didn’t want to believe her love was going down that route. But at the same time that is not set in stone or eveidence. I’m not sure anyone really knows why Padme responded to the slaughtering of the Tuskan’s the way she did, I believe personally she was utterly blinded by love and partly shocked at what Anakin had done(And she was most likely trying to comfort the loss of his mother obviously) :D

I wonder what her reaction would have been if it was a village of recognizable humans he'd 'slaughtered like animals'.

Yes that is very true !! It shouldn’t of mattered what species, it should have been enough for her to know he is unstable. Love is a killer........

I feel like maybe when Anakin confessed to killing them, Padmé didn’t leave because she knew that Anakin really loved his mother and wanted to free her and save her. Sure what Anakin did was clearly dark and evil, Padmé knew that what Anakin just whitnessed was a lot for him. In ROTS, Anakin was rambling on and on about his new empire and how he and Padmé could rule the galaxy. And when she found out how he had killed younglings, that is where she knew what was up

I get it. To be fair, he did enslave and murder his mother, so it was justified. Or at least she COULD justify it in her head. Thats a reason, not an excuse, I agree with you.
