SPECULATION Will the green lightsaber show up in IX?

Even though I like this, I think Luke threw it away after Ben had turned on him. This saber was the reason Ben turned after all. So both - Ben and Luke - should hate this saber. This could also be the reason why the projection of Luke didn't use the green one.

Red means dark side, because the crystal begins to bleed when a dark sider trys to corrupt it.

he's an angry kid who's lost his way. deep inside he will know that his parents and Luke always loved him.. he will have (my opinion) a burning desire to make everyone proud of him. holding the Green Saber.. and perhaps getting a little nod of approval from FG Luke would do him the world of good

 

I like it, but it was heavily hinted that Kylo will use the blue one.
"This lightsaber. It belongs to me." Furthermore the fight over the lightsaber in TLJ and finally it's broken like Kylo himself.

 

i'm not so sure now.

i think a powerful scene with FG Anakin would make for a good time for Ben to take up the Blue Saber.. but thinking it belongs to him already? dunno, something not quite right about that.

Anakin's saber called to Rey.. and Kylo lost the force pull tug-of-war twice to her when trying to take it.

I'm not sure where i stand on Ben and the light sabers right now.. my head canon is confuzzled

I really dont want to see the green lightsaber again in present time I rather want to go another route and see it In an flashback or forceback vision weiled by Luke Skywalker .. It is Luke Skywalkers so it shouldn’t be handed over or inherited by anyone unless he has an child which i highly doubt ..

 

I feel like #1 is the most likely of the three options you list. However, I think she finds a way to use the crystal from Anakin’s to create her own.

Option #3 would be awesome. I would welcome it

I want to see a clean slate with new lightsabers. Rey should make her own lightsaber with a completely new design. However, they’re setting it up (from 8) that Rey will simply reconstruct the old Skywalker lightsaber into a new one.

 

Agreed. A bit of fun in the design. A staff with two short spitting ends, like fire crackers at either side?

 

I actually want to see that it has become self aware and think all of this is foolish. Yet it gives hints to a story written by a guy in a time far far in the future in a galaxy far far away will be love by nerds everywhere.

 

This was my first thought on the matter! Perhaps he took it with him when he ran away after collapsing his dwelling on Master Skywalker. Could also be an additional reason as to why he wants Luke's blue saber... to complete more of his collection! I'd much rather have a redeemed Ben Solo end up with the green saber than the blue one, makes more sense on a symbolic level. Rey should use the repaired blue saber, as others have stated... only with a custom designed hilt of her own makings.

Ben could even use only the crystal itself by adding it into his existing hilt that he currently has... I think it would be awesome to see his cross-saber with a green blade! Gives me hope for an eventual converted 'Knights of Ren' as well!

Rey will assemble the blue one but it won’t work. Rey will be put in a position to either kill Kylo ot join him on the dark side. She will need to save Kylo and it will ignite...Red.

Option #3 would indeed be great. I kinda feel like she'll somehow find Luke's green one. Even if she makes her own before or something. I think Luke's green lightsaber will make an appearance.

 

I don’t know if this has been mentioned or not, but The Last Jedi novelization hints that the Caretakers are in possession of Luke’s green lightsaber and are holding onto it for safekeeping. I don’t know what reasoning they could possibly come up with for Rey returning to Ahch-To, but if so, that would be a perfect way to integrate the green lightsaber into the story.

I’m fine with Rey fixing and keeping the blue Skywalker lightsaber or creating her own, to be honest. But I LOVE that green lightsaber and I’d kill to see it reappear beyond flashbacks in the Sequel Trilogy, too.

 

The likely reason the Caretakers have it is in their name. They are caretakers. They have been taking care of and preserving the Jedi temple and its contents for thousands of years. It would be natural that they would put all of Luke’s possessions in safe keeping. Likely being saved for a time when it might be needed. The million dollar question is will it be needed in IX? If there is a need for Rey to return to Ach-to, then I could see the green saber showing back up. However, I don’t see there being a need for Rey to return. She already has the books. If she goes back for the saber only then it is just JJ providing fan service. It would be more creative for Rey to create her own saber or modify the broken saber.
