So, this a thread for any and all actors (aspiring or not). You can give acting advice, talk about your acting experience, or anything else you can think of. :) I'll start off with something...

My community theater is putting on the musical "Legally Blonde" and I'm in it but it's been a long time since I was in a musical. Not only that, I'm one of the leads so I have quite a bit of lines and song lyrics to learn. Not to mention I have to learn how to dance and sing at the same time. Any advice for learning lines quickly and for singing while dancing? For the former, I usually just stick with repetition, and that works well for me, but I am totally open to trying knew techniques. For the latter, I've never really tried to sing while dancing before so I have no idea what to really do. A friend of mine, who is also the assistant director for this musical, told me to keep my neck loose and take deep breaths. She's been doing this for a while so I'm sure her advice is good but this is my first time doing this so, I need all the help and advice I can get.

Best advice for that? Sing while running on the treadmill and breathing exercises. I'm more a film actor than a stage actor so the difference might be different but also from my experience asking questions to the director as much as possible also helps.

Thanks for the reply and advice! :)

I have practiced singing while running (not on a treadmill because I don't have one). It definitely seems to help. As for asking questions, I will do more of that.

Also, I welcome "film-acting" advice, too. I want to eventually be in films, anyway. :)

A few years ago, I used to perform as a rap artist every few days, every single week. Constant lung expansion techniques are definitely needed, including much repetition in rehearsal. Try jogging or any other cardio workouts EVERY OTHER DAY to expand your lungs and help your stamina. Singing/rapping while performing is not as easy as it looks. Singers usually have the privilege to stand mostly still during their performances, but rappers and performing artists usually have to practice constant motion during their shows. I used to have to choreograph those performing with me to bring an energetic feel to the crowd.
BREATHE, BREATHE, BREATHE. Practice finding your breathe control with your diaphragm and it should help your lung limits. You'll do great I'm sure!
As far as acting goes, I have always wanted to get into voice acting and have no idea how to start such a goal. I already have my own home studio and the skillset to mix and master a project but I have no idea where to start. A few of my friends want to be involved in this project, and I have been wanting to start it for a very long time.
    Any advice??
