Shoutout to another Aliens actor, Mark Rolston, to join the cast briefly before being killed by Baylon in the opening.
Another was Michael Biehn in Mandalorian, again, one episode only :/

Didn't expect that. I liked it (reminded me some scenes from Appleseed, scifi images with strong music).

Reminded me The Phantom Menace, but certainly with the music reminded me some other 80's adventures as well. Have to watch it again cause I had other reminiscents now I don't remember

I liked it too. That was good.

Didn't expect that either. That was cool indeed, to introduce some old lore to the story.

    Well said.

Also, I tink the end credits explains some of the aspects of the story and where it will go. The end credits theme is quite epic. Love it.
Also there are Purgils in credits. Those and Ezra will have something to say for sure.

Man, seems like modern Star Wars is really committed to the premise of a cryptic map leading to a mythical location. At this point, I feel it would be weirder if that wasn’t the setup. It’s just what’s done now.

I kind of wish I hadn’t watched the trailers. These first two episodes are doing their job well setting the table, but I felt I was mostly ahead of it, waiting for the story to get going. I felt the same about Wandavision’s first few episodes.

I don’t really understand the push back on Sabine getting perforated. It was deliberately shown to be off-center. If that had been a gunshot wound, we’d have accepted it as life threatening, but not likely fatal. Which is what’s being communicated in the scene. What’s the problem?

Overall, I liked it. The character scenes are a little too inert for my taste, but I guess that’s a style choice.

    Rewatching it.

The code Ahsoka gives to enter the cruiser, 1-9-7-4 is the year Filoni was born.

Also the first room we see in that cruiser, seems exactly the same as ROTJ to prepare the attack. Can't provide photos sorry.

1974 is my birth year also. It was probably Rosario dropping a secret lil' love note to me.
It absolutely was the exact room. The Home One was Ackbar's flagship.

I can literally hear Admiral Ackbar's line: "You can see here, the Death Star, orbiting the forest moon of Endor" <3

These are the reviews that I'm looking for. Also one of the reasons I felt compelled to hold off on watching the series. I won't know the whole story till I watch it - but I'll have an idea of what's really going on so I hope that leads to full suspension of disbelief like the old days. (when you could novel up ahead of time, then see which version worked better for you)

Star Wars fans are best fans.

    Comment of the day.

I had that one and Rhett getting Sith'd by the Dark Apprentice in my OG post pre-view, but neither survived so I went with Luke who wasn't even there.

I've only viewed the first episode so far. I don't think it's bad, but I wasn't that impressed. The episode's opening scrawl had identified Ahsoka as a former Jedi Knight. One, she had never achieved the rank of knight. And two, the episode ended up contradicting the opening scrawl. Two, the lightsaber battles were okay, but not particularly mind blowing. I noticed that Dave Filoni had repeated an old irritation of mine from "The Clone Wars". He had Ahsoka battling those droids with a lightsaber, when she could have easily used the Force to defeat them. And three, I found Filoni's direction rather limpid. I hope the next director will do a better job. Why did Filoni decided to make Sabine Wren Force sensitive? I never had that impression from "The Clone Wars", unless I had missed something. Besides, Bo-Katan wields a lightsaber better than Sabine and she is not Force sensitive.

What a wonderful summation; thanks for sharing.

    (dark)I find this information, annoying.(dark)

Was it enough to pull the brakes on watching eppy deuce right afterwards, or was that your plan all along? I love seeing the different ways that fans take things in.... I plan to snort the entire show in one big bender.

I’m impressed with Ahsoka so far. It is exciting, and it feels like Star Wars. This is really cementing my belief that Favreau and Filoni make great Star Wars TV shows, but everyone else… not so much. (Jury’s still out on Andor.)

I did have a couple of issues though. With Rebels being rated Y7, the characters had so much plot armor that it really drained any sense of danger from the battles. When they seemingly killed Sabine in the first episode, I was like, “Dang! The gloves are off.” I’m disappointed it was a fake out. I mean, I don’t want Sabine to die, but I also don’t like being faked out.

Also, I feel like Disney has allowed their canon to fragment disappointingly quickly. It doesn’t make sense that Ahsoka was active during at least episodes 3-6, and yet she doesn’t appear in any of those movies. I know there have been some attempts to explain this, but I wish they had focused more on an overall plan from the start. This is compounded by the fact that we will likely soon be asking the same question about Grogu - where was he during the ST? I think it is really unlikely that Disney will kill Grogu, because he is a breakout star character, and, frankly, a cash cow.

For some reason, I don’t remember the storyline about Sabine being Ashoka’s apprentice.

AFAIK - this happened off screen.

Like when George said to Dave: "Anakin has a Padawan." - after RotS came out.

The interview where Filoni recalls how it all went down is pretty funny because its over in 1.2.3. @SegNerd
