Now THAT was worth a 'like' regardless of what you said afterwards. :) ;)
If he does, I'll back off my cyber-map criticisms.
My beef only applies for the viewers who saw both. Given its sci-fi theme and high play on the big and small screen, I made the assumption most fans did. I see now that it came out in 2009 (yikes, THAT long ago?) so I'll back off a bit. But the Ahsoka version was a virtual mirror of the Star Trek original which featured James Kirk out-racing authorities to the sounds of wild, hard rock music. It was written to illustrate young James Kirk's 'rebellious child' demeanor. To be fair, if I'd never seen it before seeing Dave's version I would have thought it was cool instead of a rip-off.

I had other responses to your post, MBWilson, but I've had three Cantina Board ERROR messages while posting this response asking me to 'verify my connection was secure' by checking a box that I'm not a robot. I'm not risking yet another one.

There may be other reasons, but in my experience this happens a lot if for whatever reason the page takes long to completely load and you reply before it finished loading all the fancy images, backgrounds, css styles and scripts.

Sorry you had issues. Was the post very long or was there something about it that made it different from regular replies (like many images and so on)?

I must admit. Dave Filoni's vision for star wars is in the spirit of the franchise. It's everything I want. Action, mystery, spirituality, boldness to name a few. I'm really looking forward to how this series is going to end the season. Probably on a cliffhanger the size of the Himalayas.

So is Marrok the Disney version of Galen? Apprentice vs. apprentice?

Rosario needs to loosen up juuuust a tadbit IMO.

Shin vs. Sabine was great. Neither we're too powerful but it is evident that Sabine is out of practice. She's lucky to be alive. Reva must have published saber wound survival techniques 101. Sabine obviously read it. That saber fight looked like the real deal.

    Will Ray be recast?

So Sabine not showing up to the/"her" ceremony shows her rebellious irresponsible ways which inevitably played out to her getting her a## handed to her. Pride proceeds downfall.

No images but I was attempting to reply to another poster, quote by quote so it was semi-long. But near the finish, the error message about verifying my connection would pop up and I'd have to start over again.

    Thanks.

Now that my technical issues have been fixed, back to responding to MBWilson who responded to me. :)

    Awkward Dialogue
You did a marvelous job of explaining why (war is hell) they likely have changed from their 'Rebel' days. Like you, we'll just have to wait and see.

But even if you are 100% right, the show needed to recognize that it would be entertaining viewers who knew A LOT about the animated series and viewers who didn't know anything. The early interactions between characters becomes REALLY tricky in that situation. If I'm new to these characters, I have no backstory to give their words special weight. It just comes off feeling....um, awkward. Heck, I felt that way even knowing what we knew from Rebels. It may just be my weird way of looking at it, but I don't think that's the best way to introduce them to a live-action audience.

Again, I'm just explaining why it disappointed me. But there is so much to like about the show. (I'm particularly taken by live-action Sabine) I'll certainly stick around to see how the Ghost Crew chemistry thing plays out over the remaining episodes of Season 1.
Frankly, that is what excited me so much about the live-action show. HBO's The Last of Us did a brilliant job (IMO) of taking an animated video game and breathing fresh life into it in a live-action show. I still crossing my fingers and hoping for the same for the Ahsoka show.

Finally got a chance to finish a conversation with my sister about this. So again, she does not know SW outside of growing up with brothers who were fans, which really caused her to despise it, and she has a 9yr old son who is a big fan. I did get her into Andor, because she does love TV drama, and she thinks Andor was one of the best things on TV last year.

She is really enjoying Ahsoka. No big issues or problems understanding what is going on and who is who. One thing she did say was that she did assume there were backstories and history that she didn't know just because she knows how complex SW is, but she totally felt like they were telling enough to keep her interested and she assumes the other blanks will be filled in. She is mildly confused by 'what is a Jedi and aren't they the good guys?' and the Ahsoka/Sabine relationship. She is even more intrigued now that she know that us Nerds are confused as well. She was/is fairly certain that there was some romantic/sexual tension between them, and she couldn't believe I didn't see that.

She surprised me by having a pretty good grasp on where this was in the timeline strictly from the opening crawl. Some of her observations were shockingly astute- about Baylan she asked, is he wanting to take over for Darth Vader? She is also convinced that Shin is going to kill Baylan. When I explained that Ray Stevenson passed away, that only galvanized her theory. The witch thing threw her off, but she wasn't ready to have it explained. The only thing she wanted to know more about or clarity on was the Ezra/Thrawn dynamic so I gave her the absolute most basic info.

She had a very interesting comparison. She says this feels very much like if someone were to have never seen any of The Walking Dead, and just watched TWD: Dead City, which I think is pretty close. There is a lot going on, and there is a very deep backstory, but everything that is crucial to THIS story is told.
Probably the most telling thing she said was that, they didn't watch Part 1 until Saturday night, and the plan was to hold off on Part 2, but she could not wait and ended up watching both. By the time Tuesday came around, she couldn't wait to see Part 3, so she "snuck" and watched it without The Kid! She is into it.

That's amazing, @MBWilson! You've made a true convert out of your sister; good boy! :D

Remind me, has she seen The Mandalorian? 'Cause she can't not fall in love with Gogu, right? :)

It is interesting that she is able to grasp the story and intricacies of Andro and Ahsoka, simply by understanding TV-drama language and tropes. That's so great, and a testiment to the fact that them writers and actors and directors & al. really know what they're doing

I'm also very impressed that she's able to stay on top of the timeline. My gf, a cassual fan whom I've converted into super-nerdhood, can't wrap her head around the big picture timeline stuff at all, especially with anything taking place between TPM & RotJ -- it's just a big ol' Star Wars mess for her, there. (Granted, there's a gazillion hours of content between those two movies, and I sometime struggle to keep it straight myself)

I'm happy for you, for having, after a long life of bugging her with SW stuff, finally corrupted your sister. And I'm happy for the kid who kan geek out over SW with his mum! And finally, I'm happy for her taking her first steps into a larger world of the weird and wonderful, that is SW <3

I made the big mistake of checking out how the show is doing on rotten tomatoes and read 4 fan "reviews" with two positives and two negatives. One saying star wars is now so feminine and woke with another that the show is boring and "cringe".

It's fine if someone doesn't like something but it's how they go about it that can irritate me and that's why I ignore thoughts and reviews from all fandoms except for star wars explained on youtube and on here (some posts) when it comes to star wars

No, she hasn't seen Mando at all, but I think that could be next. After watching Part 3, she very reluctantly asked me, if she could watch "just a little bit" of the history, what did I recommend? I just told her to hold off right now, if anything I told her a couple of YouTube recaps to watch.

She really enjoys long-form TV. Breaking Bad and The Walking Dead, that type of stuff. Andor hit her just right, and sorta changed her SW feelings. Seeing Mon Mothma in Ahsoka this week blew her mind and I think now she is really connecting the dots. She is also raving about the female-centric feel of the show, and had a great comment about how girl-heavy the series is, yet they have made absolutely no issues about that.

Lol. Community Terms of Service would not allow me to give you her reply to this video. This is a fragile dance with a volatile woman. That being said, I absolutely did recommend SWE's recent Rebels recap videos and/or Screen Crush because I think she will enjoy Alex and Mollie or Ryan Arey more than any other creators. Alex's Canon Timelines are outstanding, but that would be overwhelming at this time. I am gently nudging her into the treeline, but I don't want to push her too deep into the Dork Forest.
