This galaxy has a world with a planetary ring composed entirely of countless space whale carcasses. I can honestly say I have never seen that before. That’s new and weird and awesome.
So, unless you’re going to be extremely different, then don’t bother being different at all?

I appreciate your sentiment: “You wanna get nuts? Let’s get NUTS!” I would love for things to go weird and just keep getting weirder. But I’m not going to take away credit because they could have pushed it further. They didn’t have to push it at all. They could have easily kept this story inside the same box we already know. It was a decision to not do that and I respect the choice.

Fingers crossed, we haven’t seen the extent of this location’s weirdness potential. But if we have, I’m glad we went there at all.

Seeing their bones was really neat and well planned detail - there is no denying that - but for me, those bones would not be that big of a deal back home in the GFFA. I mean - we have mega space worms napping in asteroid fields and ginormous space jellyfish that chill next to black holes... so seeing a space bone planetary ring doesn't feel "other-galaxy" to me. It fits right in.

Very cool to look at though.

Peridia certainly feels like Star Wars - so that's really all I care about.
And maybe THAT is the point - the new GFFA isn't supposed to be all that different from the old one. At least for those watching.

That’s a pretty unfair metric though. Isn’t it? I mean, what concept would be soooooo totally out there that it simply wouldn’t be at all believable to take place in the galaxy we know?

Making Peridia a livable planet was also important to the story. I would totally love to see some off-the-wall environments, gravity situations, etc... but there is no reason there aren't systems like that in the known Galaxy. I'm really hoping that between the continuation of this story and Skeleton Crew we are going to see some weird locations and relative physics stuff in Wild Space and the Unknown Regions.

As far as Peridia's similar look and feel, I actually like what was done. We have seen some new species, and let's not forget that anything too weird would take away from this very focused story that we are watching. The void between the Galaxies served a physical purpose, otherwise, sure it very well could have been in the Unknown Regions. At least now we do have confirmed Intergalactic travel and knowledge of another Galaxy that was previously nothing but fairytales.

It's almost as if the New GFFA needed to be some sort of bizarro land, where people walk upside down, water floats and dead fish don't smell bad. I don't know what anyone else was expecting, if anything..... I also don't know if an ultra wacky environment would've worked for fans right after learning about the world between worlds and watching space whales that travel at lightspeed. The force is the force, no matter if the galaxy is new or not. We just haven't seen all the ways to master it yet. I look forward to that - but I'm over needing the New GFFA to be diff - just because. I want things to feel like STAR WARS. Whatever that is.

Pretty much this. For me, it felt like a stripped bare Dathomir which is totally cool.

Sucks waiting every tuesday at a certain time for a new episode. I get why but I wouldn't mind at least one star wars show's season being out all together to binge watch

Jeez, we've been in this new galaxy for all of...what? Two episodes?

    I think we should allow Lucasfilm/Disney a little more time, don'tcha think? ;) :)
