So what of Anakin Skywalker's relationship with Luke?

Although I still believe that many of the rumors are false and the "leaks" intentional, one thing I do firmly believe amongst the all things we've seen is that the Sequel Trilogy will feature Anakin/Vader in at least some capacity. The question to me is how big of a presence he will have.
We may see him in a flashback scene, or there could be a clone of him traipsing through the galaxy. Maybe his corpse is resurrected through some dark side witchcraft, or perhaps we have an impostor attempting to take up his mantle.

Personally I want to see the Force Ghost of Anakin interacting with Luke. He would have so much to teach him, having been the greatest Jedi of his time! And why not? At the end of ROTJ Luke sees Anakin standing along side Obi-Wan and Yoda, and It only stands to reason that he would go speak with him; he is, after all, the kids Dad!
So what of the day after the victory of the Rebellion over the Empire? What happened in the following days in regard to Luke and his Father? I would like to think that Luke has learned a great deal from him in the past 30 years, who along with Yoda and Obi-Wan has guided Luke in the resurrection of the Jedi Order. I really want to see some true dialogue between Luke and Anakin, as opposed to Luke and Vader.

I also wonder, can anyone else see these Force Ghosts. We've only seen the three, and Luke is the only one that can commune with them. Is that because he knew them during their lives, or have we simply just not seen them talk to anyone else? There was also the spirit of Qui-Gon who appeared to Yoda, but again, Yoda knew him in life.
What I'm getting at is can Anakin interact with his grandchildren? I still have a nagging feeling Luke might be teetering to the dark side, and his children/nephews/nieces may be trying to help him. If they have the aid of Anakin's force ghost, it could be a way for him to redeem himself fully to his family.

I do so love to speculate and hope you will join me in getting some good ideas going about our favorite father and son! These days, speculation it's the only thing that keeps my head from exploding with anticipation for Episode 7!!!

A lot of people assume Luke is the only one to see Force Ghosts, I think anyone in the Skywalker line can not just hear them but see them, because of their strength in the Force. Anakin could appear to any of his grandchildren and tell them what happened to him, teaching them the horrors of the darkside. That is why one of them would go after his helmet, to alter his legacy after his redemption and death.

A lot of people assume George does dumb visual things for re-releasing special editions of the OT just to cash in, but what if using Hayden as the force ghost of Anakin, instead of Shaw, at the end of Jedi was for a different reason? Good thread Marc!

Boy with Anakin, Yoda, and Obi Wan as force ghosts to guide Luke through life I find it implausible for Luke to embrace the dark side. I could seem him trying to understand it or even demonstrate some non traditional Jedi choices. I like the notion of him being the most powerful Jedi ever, and showcasing his force abilities. How awesome would it be to see him bring down a Super Star Destroyer by using the force. JJ is excellent at visual stimulation so I would expect something impressive like this.

agreed! Everything until now points to Luke being the single best Jedi in all of history. I so dont want to see him turn! It would be a big twist and all, and i would most likely enjoy that arc, but i just dont want it to happen! If he did turn it may be in 8 or even 9, but i hope not at all. Luke is my favorite hero of all time!!!

would be great to see Anakin as a force ghost. If there is a force ghost of Yoda, so it is only logical there have to be Obi-Wan and Anakin...why selecting (if not just for the unavailability of the actors)...but I think there will be on Anakin, no Obi-Wan, just Yoda - and I´m looking forward for the explanation why only him :)

I don't want an episode III rehash, but hear me out.

If Luke can still talk to Anakins force ghost then maybe some of the other rumours we have heard come together. Specifically the Darth Plaigus and Luke as the grave robber ones. If say Luke had a vision/lost someone already(wife/sister) but didn't want to lose his daughter/neice then it would seem to me Anakin might be the guy to talk to!? It is a power only attained by one and not from a Jedi. And I'm sure Palpy and Vader talked about it more (probably for their selfish needs to keep power as opposed to the original need to save Padme) Maybe Anakin thinks Luke can do it without going full Sith. But they do need more Sith info or relics. And if the Sith remnants got word that Luke was close to discovering the secret, it would lead to him being hunted down by them as well as others. Maybe the ancient fear is a force wielder with immortality. Good or bad.

A theory, this is. But towards the end of Revenge of the Sith, prior to both Yoda and Kenobi going into hiding, Yoda mentioned to Kenobi that he would teach him how to commune with Qui-Gon Jinn -- who is dead at that point and who was the first-mentioned force spirit.

So I'm just going to assume that yes, it is a skill that requires one be taught. To what extent, however, I don't know.

Also, there are the scenes in A New Hope where force spirit-Kenobi vaguely guides Luke, and that contradicts it solely being skill to be taught.

But maybe a force ghost can be communed with more skillfully after having been trained how to.

I think maybe the poll system is a little wacky? I'm tallying up 131.3%...?
