Then what's the point of seeing him transform into Vader if most of the personality part is skipped over?

What can we expect? That darn sand drives people nuts! Look what poor Greedo had to go through because of that crazy boys sand craze!

Yeah it was confirmed it was Greedo in the novel of TPM.

 

Always thought that was dumb. I am so happy they never went through with the idea of putting Han in ROTS.

 

You know, when you look at it from a certain point of view, I think it would have real cool if they had included that Greedo scene. One of the things that bugged me about Anakin's transformation was that they made him such an incredibly super good boy with a heart of gold that wouldn't hurt a fly. The Greedo scene would have shown us that Anakin was already a boy with conflicts and a hot temper and it would have added nicely to the scene where the Jedi Council didn't want him to be trained. A young boy that had anger issues and conflicts from the start would have made his fall much more credible than a dude that fell to evil because things didn't go his way and because he hated sand.

 

I agree. It's one of the problems with The Phantom Menace is that it doesn't help to set up the later films, a mistake sadly continued by Attack of the Clones. There's a reason Anakin's fall in Revenge of the Sith feels rushed.

 

No. The prequels have too many pointless cameos as it is.

 

But isn't that a part of what makes SW fun? I understand that you may not like it but I have to admit that I would love to see some cameos about some favorite characters in the ST even if they were pointless. For me at least, seeing characters like Bossk, Boba Fett or Tessek would be awesome even if they were just standing around doing nothing as this would not only serve as pleasing fans but letting us know which characters survived the Sarlacc battle as well now that the EU is no more. I would also love to see more EU characters pop up as well as I remember being incredibly pumped after watching the special edition of ANH and seeing the Outrider. Seeing a character like Durge or Embo even if they were just hanging around some Hutt crime lord would instantly blow my mind!

 

Which a young Han wouldn't be. It would be forcing him in there for no good reason. It's one of those "It's a Small Galaxy After All" moments. Now, if we had seen someone like Bossk in the background of Maz's castle, for instance, that would be fine. It makes sense with the character and would be small. But a small child randomly seen on Kashyyyk during a battle scene? That's stretching to an absurd degree.
