Andy may have spoiled Kino's fate but who's to say it isn't in Episode 11 or 12. I could've sworn i saw a teenie weensie little Andor swimming outside the prison with a teensie weensie little Kino Loy in tow. :)

I saw that that interview and all he said is Kino makes a sacrifice, which doesn’t really confirm anything. What he does also say at one point though is
”the three episodes I was in”

If so, then that to me was a bit of a spoiler, but still not confirming anything about his character’s fate, leaving it open to a return at some point hopefully.

I think Kino's survival would be worse fate actually. If he is not killed on sight by frightened guards, he would just be transferred to a new prison to live out his days without any hope. This was their best chance and he lost it.

To be fair, Star Wars has certainly fallen to the "no body, no death" trope.

But Andor just doesn't seem like the kind of show that would be beholden to that. I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibility, but having an implied death that is meant to be both literal and mysterious seems well within this show's wheelhouse.

It doesn’t make much character sense for Kino to not have risked his life jumping to the water. His sympathetic hesitation, followed by committed action, was stitched throughout the episode.

And it doesn’t make much thematic sense for the guy, who inspired and championed his fellow inmates to care for one another, to then have been immediately abandoned them.

I’m embarrassed, I didn’t even catch that that was Andy Serkis.

It almost seems purposely short, like a tease of things to come. Especially on Ferrix, the short scene focused on the oppressive feeling and paranoia in the streets. That Stormtrooper at the gun installation and the glances and whispers hint that Cinta has caught someone's attention as she keeps an eye on Maarva. I'm even more convinced that S1 is going to climax and end on the streets of Ferrix.

The prison break was perfect. Quick, frantic and decisive. As soon as Cassian got that blaster in his hands, you know that stuff is about to go down. Gotta love the tough guy guards huddled in a room hugging their cattle prods. The jump and swim was a surprise, but no doubt there's a nearby settlement that's happy to assist an overthrow of the oppressive Imperial presence and fly some folks off planet. I assume we'll get an update on further info from the incident via an ISB briefing room meeting telling us number of escapees and how many dead, when they will inevitably connect Cassian to the breakout, causing the ISB to run to Ferrix thinking that will be his next destination- which it will be.

Finally we get to see the mud puddle that Mon Mothma will have to jump into. She's been able to keep her hands clean up to now while supporting the Rebellion, but as Luthen warned her, "there are no rules going forward...if you're not willing to risk your conscience, then surrender and be done with it." Finally she is faced with having to do something bad for a good reason. I can't imagine it will be any more tense of a family discussion than we've already seen. It is of note that this will put Mon in direct violation of the Empire's new directives as she is using her people's customs to aid the Rebellion.

To close it out we get to see Luthen meet one of his spies in the lower levels of Coruscant. This scene shows exactly how Luthen is who he is. He is charming, endearing, inspiring and just a little bit threatening. He is genuine as he congratulates Lonnie on the birth of a happy, healthy daughter, yet the undercurrent of "I know how to get to you" is not lost in his friendly tone. He once again lies to an ally about his involvement in Aldhani, and when he learns that Dedra has constructed a theory that is VERY close to accurate, he scoffs and tells him, "encourage that... She's wasting time..." That is ice water running in his veins. He makes James Bond look like Barney Fife.

Totally agree. He had accepted the 'get free or die tryin' aspect even before the action started. He surely thought himself dead when that guy 20 feet from him on the floor was fried right before the power shorted out. Kino either found a way to shore or drowned trying, either way I doubt we'll ever hear from him again. Maybe in a year or so, Cassian will receive a blank postcard from Niamos. Wish You Were Here! Cheers, K.

As I read all of these comments above, I'm glad I stay away from any teaser, trailer, picture, news.
Everything hits me in pure form, I'm so happy to not have been spoiled on Lonni Yung's role. I absolutely did not recognize Luthen in the earspeakers, during all the lift scene long. I thought he was Partagaz. Then I heard they were speaking about Partagaz, so he couldn't be Partagaz. And when I finally saw Luthen : [IMG] how the hell could I not recognize him.....

And we were made to finally find out who was behind that voice over the prison speakers. A coward. [IMG]

(edit) the shot of the episode (thank you @Madmartigan ):

The only thing that Luthen didn't admit to in that speech is that, a part of him is enjoying it.

A minor thing, but I appreciated how the star map readout on the screen in the ISB meeting room was ‘black on white’, rather than the traditional ‘white on black’. Just so it matches the aesthetic of the set. That made me smile. Cute touch.

The Aldhani heist was debated in nexts episodes. I guess, watching the structure of the storyline, we will see the reaction in episode 11.

I absolutely agree. And happy to be alive to enjoy it.

After reading this I thought I saw her from behind too but after my second viewing I haven't find her anywhere. We only see Cinta right? Cause am confused right now, Like the Mandela effect :p

My initial thought was that we were seeing Bix from behind too. But after the perspective shifts to Cinta stalking around, it seemed like that was more the intent.

Luthen's was great, but I actually enjoyed Kino's more, once they took over the prison command center. Give me a reluctant leader over an ambitious one any day. (must be the Snow in me talking again...)

I didn't catch the Vader-on-Bespin vibes but I'll look for that on the next re-watch. Need to jot down both of those speeches while I'm at it!

Paak didn't die at Dr Gorst's hands so there's no reason to assume Bix has.

Bor Gullet will know if I'm lying! :D

I'm curious of Kino's thought process of the escape: did he go into it knowing he wasn't going to make it, if it came down to swimming? Or did he never expect to make it that far in the first place and never even considered swimming until he was standing there, one jump away from freedom?

Ultimately I don't know if it matters much. Either way it's a hugely bittersweet moment, and really a nice touch from the writers at such a euphoric moment.

Serkis said that it was in Kino's mind the entire time and was partly the reason he was hesitant to speak over the intercom. As if his character kept it in his mind that he himself would never make it out alive yet he still rallied the men. Both he and Tony Gilroy were very ambiguous about Kino's fate, but his arc is complete.

Dedra gave the Imperial Prefect the go ahead to hang Paak in the square. I figure that will be a spark in the pending incident on Ferrix. She ordered her men to keep Bix in custody as she was the only person who could ID Axis. We also know through interviews that Bix is in season 2.

Such a great episode. Love that part where Kino looked at his feet about to get fried then looked up in like a Caesar stance from Planet Of The Apes before charging, his speech was also memorable. I hope he finally jumped. If he becomes a possible next episode interrogation scene with Deedra would be such a shame.
