It was good to see Forest Whitaker slip back into the eccentric Saw, although thoughtfully, whilst still a bit out there, not quite as far gone as we later see him in R1.

Watching Andor episode 8 with the subtitles/captions this time around. Andor's alias isn't Greef Karga, but it definitely sounded like it on my first viewing. Greef might not have been born during this era... not quite sure of his age, maybe just a youngster.

Actually, I don't feel the Leida-is-a-teenage-informant thing, nor that she's her father's pawn against Mon Mothma. Rather, I think she's just a frustrated teenager who understands a lot more than what her parents give her credit for, and she might even be an awakening idealist annoyed by the fact that her parents work in and for the heart of the Empire. When she asked about Tay Kolma, I thought there was a note of desperation about her, and I wonder if she might know about Kolma being a budding anti-Imperialist and are therefore inching closer to him?

Also, I wonder if we will get a cutaway scene at one of the dinner parties where Leida hides in a cupbord, or whatever, listening in on people conspiring. They did make a point about her excusing herself from the party, so that might mean something.

Oh, and Cassian's cover name is Keef :)

I noticed the similarity too. Keefe Girgo. It seems to conspicuous to be a coincidence.

Bix was detained when they were hunting down Cassian in episode 3. They traced the comms to Paak and saw her loitering. They probably intended to bring her in anyway

Doesn't the high security at Narkina 5 seem a little bit OTT for what is essentially just people taken off the streets for slave labour? They treated Andor like he was Hannibal Lecter or Magneto with all the hi-tech precautions etc.

The shower scene had some really uncomfortable real world parallels.

I know now what made the prison so weird to me. Someone else pointed that out: there is no single alien in the prison. Knowing what we know about the Empire, it should have been the opposite.

It's not inconceivable that the Empire would segregate prisoners/enforced labourers. They were split up and put on different transports for a reason.

I thought his alias was "Keef Girgo". I'm not confident on the spelling, but phonetically, that's what it sounds like.

There'd be a bunch of reasons why you'd want to segregate prisoners. My guess (from the Empire's POV) would be that humans would uniformly react to the electricity applied to their feet. Different species would require more or less to be effective. There could be women in other rooms in the factory.

Wow, I never realized the similarities between Andor's prison alias of 'Keef Girgo' and 'Greef Karga' from The Mandalorian! On the surface, it seems rather strange that the writers to do that play on names unless it turns out to have a special meaning later on.

One important point to make about this series: The acting has been incredible -- particularly from Diego Luna and Stellan Starsgard. But that said, the cameo performance in this last episode by Forest Whitaker was truly Academy Award-quality. It gave me goosebumps!

I don't have much to add to what everyone has mentioned. I really love the set design for this series. They've not a terrific job making this look real. Great episode with great world building. Heck, you could make an entire series just out of the prison.

    That prison, man.

Talk about the most intense game of "Floor is Lava" ever played.

Am I the only one that these tunnels remind of the clone installations on Kamino ? :D

Please consider adding Fiona Shaw to them. ;)

I didn't get Kamino - but I see the resemblance that you're referring to. I just looked at it as a "free air" separation between the factory ring and the inner core where the prisoners sleep. It makes it harder for prisoners to escape - not that the floor is helping them at all ;)

I am also in awe of the set design. When Andor came in on the transport, my eyes instantly went to the the swirling currents in the corners. Are they for hydro power? Are they an escape deterrent? Then when they went inside, the dystopian attitude matched the architecture. They did a good job. But this isn't limited to the prison -- Mon Mothma's residence, the ISB HQ, Saw's "cave", the homes on Ferrix - each location reflects a ton of attention to the little details that help the "background" tell the story as well as the characters and their actions.

They were separated by home planet, possibly that would indicate their skill set. If you're from Corellia you'd be sent to an Imperial shipyard. If you're from Lothal you'd serve your time on an Imperial prison farm. Likewise I'd imagine alien species are put in facilities based on their abilities and physical attributes. The Empire is also inherently racist and oppressive toward non-humans so it's likely the more dangerous and physically strenuous jobs are given to them. The Empire also probably provides forced labor to the various guilds that contract for them. I seem to recall seeing that in some of the animated shows...

I've been a detractor of the show, and I still feel like there's been a lot of wasted time. But it's growing on me. The heist and the prison were pretty cool.

Yeah... definitely a story there. It also stood out during Luthen and Kleya's conversation about his pre-heist jitters. Kleya says, "Vel is the only one who traces back." So there's a connection there no doubt. I don't think it's father/daughter- would he have put her at such a risk on Aldhani?

    Interesting connection, indeed...

I'm intrigued by Kleya... her name reminds me of Leia's... she resemble her too; concerning connections: who is she really to Lutheran? An interesting relationship I'd like to know more of.
