Look, I love C3PO and think Daniels was/is the only actor who could have portrayed him on screen and he is Star Wars "royalty" if ever there was such but his recent comments are starting to anger me. It started with him complaining about the secrecy and being chastised by Disney and now this new article where he's bashing Hamill, Fisher and Baker (again)! He needs to pipe down a bit and think before he speaks.

While I still maintain that the source is questionable, if it's true, he can kiss Hamill's (and Carrie's and Kenny's) ass.

In a word of Max Landis (time stamped):

It's pretty much common knowledge that Anthony Daniels is a massive prick. Kenny Baker called him the rudest man he's ever met.

I remember reading press, after Star Trek VI was released, where co-stars criticized working with William Shatner. I felt deeply disappointed to learn that characters I adored were not friends in real life. Unfortunately, that's how these things work out sometimes. I agree, it's not professional to take shots at co-stars (especially about their aged appearance, which they can't control). Not everyone can wear a head-to-toe costume. Mr. Daniels, if he was quoted correctly (I don't always trust these UK "news" sites), should avoid these rambling types of interviews for the sake of his own reputation.

sometimes people are dicks. not much you can do about that unfortunately....from what iv heard hes great with the fans.

im a big Star Trek fan too, and i watched some interviews from past trek conventions with TNG character boards... I figured the lady that played Troi would be a pleasant as what I saw on screen but when I watched the interviews she is no lady at all. at least she can act.

If you look at just the Daniels quotes in the piece, its easy to see how those might have been taken out of context and and reconstructed in order to push clicks. I've heard many of the actors make similar comments before about how they've aged. How not everyone is a pretty as Harrison anymore. The comments about Hamill could have been in the same vein and then twisted by the writing to make them seem malicious instead of sympathetic or playful.

Daniels doesn't actually say much in the piece, but there is a whole lot of filler added by the writer to add (or possibly create) context

I'm pretty sure the part about Baker being credited was not the author's words, but rather Daniels. No?

Well, I don't know about a working relationship, but I spoke to Anthony Daniels once and he's fantastic with the fans....it's likely his very best attribute, and the fans love him.

As an example; I used to date a girl FOR YEARS and honestly, we didn't get along that well. When we broke up, everyone was shocked when it happened and took for granted that our personal relationship that was private was a mirror image of our public one.

That being said, actors don't always get along, and despite their on-screen performances/relationships DO in fact sometimes absolutely despise the existance of the other....most of them you'll never hear about...

Daniels is great at C3PO, can't imagine anyone else TBH. But as a person he comes across as a bit of a knob, especially when he talks about Kenny Baker.
Before you say anything about anyone else:
    1. Is it true?
    2. Is it kind?
    3. Is it necessary?
I believe microsoft should stamp this on every PC, apple should etch it into every screen and google should have it as their tag line under their logo.
    Whoops!

I was referring more to the Carrie and Mark stuff.

The Kenny Baker stuff I don't judge him too much on. He's said similar things about Kenny Baker a few times before. How would you respond if a interviewer asked to comment on a former co-star calling you "the rudest man in the world"? He could be more professional and decline to comment. But considering the context, I thought his response was relatively tame. A general I don't know what he's going on about. And no, we don't speak anymore and don't have to. he isn't really on set at all.

The dig about him being a courtesy credit is a bit juvenile, but again he was responding to an insult, so I don't really judge him on that.

The ones that I found more shocking were the comments on Carrie and Mark, but when reading the piece closely, it seems that the interviewer buffed those up a bit with some convenient context to go along with the Baker comments and make Daniels seem like a prick so that it would get attention.

Just my take. Daniels could very well be a complete a-hole. Kenny Baker could too. I just thought it was interesting how those comments were surrounded by a whole lot of constructed context to make it seem as harsh as possible.

I actually don't mind too much what he's saying but mind that he's saying it publicly. Even if just answering a question, I just don't like it. Like in sports, if it happens in the locker room, it should stay in the locker room. If there are issues behind the scenes fine, just keep them back there. Don't out Baker about not being on set and shouldn't be credited.

You know maybe the "reason" for this has something to do with TFA. Maybe 3PO is sacrificed and is destroyed in the film, and that's why Daniels is saying all these things now. Didn't he say that he had "issues" with JJ regarding 3PO in TFA? Perhaps that's why he's saying these things.:(

“I’ve signed up for the next two films, 8&9. I’ll have to do those two otherwise I’ll have a mouse at the door and they’ll arrest me"

He is a bit of a primadonna isn't he . I still kind of like his humor though. Like for example this comment about the costume when he talks about almost falling during the preqells.
“I’d tripped over a step, was hanging half out of a window and all they could see was this golden butt sticking up. I could have landed 40ft down on my head - or, worse, damaged the costume.”

Too far Anthony. Disney should terminate his contract and put someone else in the suit for the next two movies.. give Threepio a minimum amount of lines. Someone else can do the voice.

Seriously.. he's an ass and needs to be taken down a peg. Nobody will care about his absence.

The thing with Anthony Daniels is, he has never taken a break from Star Wars.

He has been C-3PO from 1977 right through to present day, and will probably continue to be C-3PO until he drops.
And the six movies so far are kind of the tip of the iceberg - he's appeared as 3PO in the Holiday Special, as a guest in various TV shows such as The Muppet Show and Sesame Street, for Star Tours, and he's voiced 3PO in the radio dramas, the old Droids cartoons, The Clone Wars, Lego Star Wars, Star Wars: Rebels, and for countless board games and video games... he also wrote a regular column for the Star Wars Insider magazine and, in general, has always been willing to contribute to documentaries and give interviews on Star Wars. Especially in the UK - he's kind of the go-to person when Star Wars is in the news for whatever reason.

Apart from some minor TV roles, he hasn't really done much else over the past 40 years. Even people like Mayhew and Bulloch, who you kind of associate with the whole fan convention scene, haven't openly involved themselves in Star Wars to the same extent so consistently over the years.

Now, I'm not saying any of that's necessarily a good or a bad thing.
But the obvious downside is, he seems to come across as if he believes he is "the voice of Star Wars" or something.
If you ask me, his attitude is almost: "I've been more committed to and more involved in this than any of the other cast-members over the years... I've earned the right to say what I like now."
Because - whether there has ever been any truth in it or not - the media has always tried to perpetuate a certain chain of recurring narratives regarding the leading cast. Star Wars "killed Hamill's career". Fisher couldn't cope with the stardom and "went off the rails" after Star Wars. Ford "resented being Han Solo and didn't enjoy being in Star Wars". David Prowse "betrayed Lucas and was ostracised by the director as a result". And so on.
You get the sense Daniels is aware of these narratives - regardless of however little truth there has ever been in them - and feels he owed something for his "loyalty" to the saga.

The bottom line, he should probably stop badmouthing people, because no-one who is interested in Star Wars is actually that interested in any of that crap. But, of course, this kind of stuff is not for fans - it's for the people who absorb any old piece of everyday celebrity tittle-tattle. Daniels probably thinks he is giving some kind of inside "scoop" on Star Wars behind the scenes, because he thinks he is the guy in the privileged position to do that. And the media are always going to highlight this kind of s**t.
To a degree, he probably is best qualified to give that kind of insight, but that doesn't mean he should be such a diva about it.

To be honest, the Kenny Baker thing seems like a genuine gripe, the rest is just him giving the press what he thinks they want - I don't get the impression he is being intentionally nasty.
Like I said, he's never really taken a break from Star Wars - he's never stood back developed a healthy perspective on things, if you get what I mean...
