This is WORSE than Tom Bakker's regeneration! It was the first time I had ever HEARD that time lords could do that! When Peter Davidson showed up I left, and Now it looks like I'll be leaving again.:(

So, how about that season finale, eh? I cried tears of pure unadulterated JOY.

This has hands down been the best season of all of "nuWho." Peter Capaldi is the BEST BEST BEST.

Yes, it was VERY good! I'm glad about Clara (now I can sleep at night), but something has occurred to me: was the Doctor in love with Clara? I admit I (unknowingly mind you) wound up falling in love with her, and I wondered if it was the same for him? She grew to like him and possibly even loved him in the end. In the Last Christmas, Clara mentions that there was "someone" after Pink but that "he was impossible". I took that to mean the Doctor, and given the fact it was HIS dream; might indicate that he had possible "romantic" feelings for her. Personally, I never cared for the Doctor to have romantic relationships with his companions; but in Clara's case I would make that exception!:D

Peter Capaldi insists that their relationship was purely platonic, but personally I ship it.

Another interpretation could be that Clara became one of his "special interests," as I and many other autistic fans headcanon Twelve as being autistic. It can get SUPER intense when a special interest is a person (I know from personal experience).

Didn't read the whole thread as I haven't finished the last season yet. I love Capaldi as the doctor but I actually think this season has been lacklustre, and it has been the scripts that are at fault. The actors have been great - though I did like "The Girl Who Died" and "The Woman Who Lived". The last one I watched was "Sleep No More" which I thought was awful.

10 will always be 'my doctor'. I love David Tennant, loved him and Rose together and also him and Donna Noble. But most of all, the tenth doctor was the last that had Russell T Davies as head writer and the scripts have not been as good under Moffat.

I agree, this past season was very lackluster. I found half of the season to be good or decent...
My problem was that there were only a couple episodes that were fully good. Either half the story (for two episodes) were good, and the other was bad, or it was a 50/50 split. Sleep No More was dreadful in every way possible.

I think the best thing about this series has been Capaldi. I enjoyed him last season, but this year he has really settled into the character and brought more to it.
I could rant for a while about Clara's character, but Coleman did a wonderful job acting wise as well.

Have there been any rumblings on the new companion? There were some rumors floating around late last year, but its been a while since I've seen anything. With it being Moffat's last season before handing it off to the new showrunner, I wonder if they'll do something different like temporary companions or no companion so that Chibnall can start fresh.

Well, she isn't confirmed to be the next companion just yet, but it sounds like she'd be a good choice.
There really hasn't been a whole lot Who news recently, just the few rumors about the next companion and that Capaldi may leave when Moffat does. Still waiting to hear more about the spinoff "Class" and what that will be like.

Anyone remember Ace in Remembrance of the Daleks? The craziest assistant ever; especially with that sledgehammer!

The Special Weapons Daleks also need to be used again: all they do in NuWho is look cool in the background. What happened to their OP disintegration weapon?

Haha, I never cared much for Ace and the 7th Doctor. But I agree that the Special Weapons Daleks need to make a proper comeback! But I think the stories will really need to up the ante. They've been lacking a little bit in the field of Dalek tales.

Yep, most Christmas episodes are fun romps. I think Last Christmas is one of my favorites.
