I think there are other force sensitives hidden but force sensitive does not equate been jedi. I would not be shocked if Rey has a hidden sibling somewhere hidden in the galaxy.

I forgot exactly what I was thinking of at the time as it was a while ago but...I believe that I was meaning that once you're recruited, you're A Jedi: A JEDI youngling, A JEDI padawan, A JEDi knight, A JEDi master, etc .

I look at it like the Jedi way is a religion. Somewhat like there are believers in Christ, and then there are Catholics, an exclusive type of Christian with their own rules and rituals. I think there are many Force sensitives in the universe, but not practicing Jedi. Much like how young Anakin could sense things before they happened and had quicker reflexes than normal, but didn't realize it was a gift. Conversely, Yoda calls Luke the last of the Jedi, and then in the next breath states he isn't a Jedi yet. Also, I have always wanted/believed that not all of the Jedi were hunted down and killed. If a former Jedi went into hiding, and remained hidden from the known population, then he really isn't a "Jedi" any longer practicing the code. Star wars is funny how it words things, and uses the "from a certain point of view".

I sure as hell hope there are no more Jedi hiding. They are a blight upon the galaxy and should be shot on sight. #downwiththeskywalkers

    The films appear to disagree.

MAZ: I am no Jedi, but I know the Force.

YODA: You must confront Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be.

You aren't a jedi just because you are force sensitive unless you train as a jedi and Luke Skywalker wasn't able to go through the jedi trials so "confronting vader" successfully would have been his trials to becoming a "Real" jedi in a sense.

You are correct my friend when you say that the Jedi are like a religion. A common mistake that many SW fans make is that they classify everything Light Side as Jedi and everything Dark Side as Sith. Both Jedi and Sith are just belief systems that are employed by each group and they are not the only groups that represent the light and the dark.

The Dagoyan Masters who were led by Queen Julia were a group that was separate from the Jedi and they used the Light Side of the Force.

The Nightsisters on the other hand were led by Mother Talzin and they used the Dark Side but their teachings were completely different from those of the Sith.

I take Snoke's words as the fact that as long as Luke is around, there can always be new Jedi. Even if every single one of his students were slain, there are always gonna be new Force sensitives being either born of discovered and Luke can start teaching them the ways of the Jedi. If Luke were killed, then it would be much harder for the Jedi to return. The same thing can be said for the Sith. As we can see in TFA, both Snoke and Kylo Ren are non-Sith as the death of both Vader and Sheev has made it hard for other Dark Side users to learn their ways. Both the Sith and the Jedi camps can always return as their teachings always live on in their Holocrons but it really is much easier and faster if their were a teacher around.

This is fascinating! Do we know who the Knights of Ren(I assume that's who those blokes were) in Rey's vision killed? My presumption upon seeing it was that they went after Kylo's former Jedi training classmates.

We do know that the KOR massacred the new academy as a fact and it's assumed that the person they killed was just some "ranom" person because of his codename and I think that he didn't even have an official credit...unless I just don't remember?

When I started this thread, I think I may have not conveyed my thoughts clearly when I asked "Are there more Jedi in hiding?" I should have presented it more along the lines of "Are there any Force Sensitives that may have trained with Luke and are on the cusp of becoming Jedi hiding somewhere awaiting Luke's return?" But that seemed too wordy and cumbersome... Since its release on Blu Ray, I am averaging at least one viewing of TFA per day on the weeknights, don't even get me started on the weekends, it's TFA madness. Not really. Well, ok, sorta. Ok, a lot sorta. More accurately, its a lot of TFA. Anyways, I still focus on the part where Snoke mentions, "If Skywalker returns, the new Jedi will rise." He doesn't say "...new Jedi...", he says "...the new Jedi..." Now I am most likely way WAY out in the weeds on this, but when I hear "the new Jedi" as opposed to "new Jedi", to me it's the same difference as this: "Go get the new shoes" as opposed to "Go get new shoes". "The new shoes" have already been identified as known objects in your life, probably in your closet. "New shoes" in that sense are likely sitting at a random store somewhere awaiting your purchase. Or if you prefer "if you leave your hamburger on the chair, dogs (random animals) will eat it" as opposed to "if you leave your hamburger on the chair, the dogs (known animals/pets) will eat it." I see a difference, maybe others do not. Also, it takes years to train a Jedi, let alone multiple Jedi; Snoke and Co. seem to be acting with a sense of urgency in finding Luke, as if upon his return, an immediate uprising will occur.

This could be very exciting! Here's hoping that line isn't sloppy script writing. One definite article here introduces such hope for uprising against the First Order!
