SPECULATION Billie Lourde's role in The Force Awakens

Portman is a great actress, she just had a pretty bad script to work with. However, not even a decent script would save Christiansens' performance. Anyway I agree Lourde will not be part of the main cast

I certainly hope they don't do this. Not only would completely go against the "staying away from CGI as much as possible" thing we've had pounded over our heads, it is just not needed.

Yes, she definitely isn't Jabba's metal bikini babe anymore, but she isn't supposed to be at this point. She is Leia, for better or for worse, and I personally don't have any issues with her playing her regardless of how her body looks.

Still, what you said does sort of make sense - especially considering the timing of the announcement. I doubt she is playing a major character, but you also have a great point - would a Solo/Organa daughter really ever be a minor character?

I'm certainly not hoping for this to be the case. It was just a a crazy theory based on what we heard about her casting, which explicitly mentioned her likeness to a young Carrie Fisher. This could have been speculation from the reporter or completely bogus to begin with and I kind of hope that's true because unless she is playing an unrelated character, the only plausible alternative is that she plays a younger Leia. That doesn't sound great to me either. If by some chance she is a really great undiscovered actress, then by all means, I would hope she plays Leia's daughter, but the timing of the casting makes me think otherwise. As far as whether Carrie would agree to CG enhancement or would be offended by it, I'm not sure. She is always making jokes about the old cast being the same but slightly "melted" and others being less so (I assume she is refering to her appearance).

Personally, I think she looks fine and would look even better in makeup so I wouldn't worry.

 

I was gonna put some bantha poodoo spoiler on here about her scenes being filmed exclusively for the trailers as a link to the "legacy characters", but I didn't have the heart... I may joke around, and I may speculate, but I just can't punk people simply because they are as fanatic as me

Yeah, actually I can... look at Britain's royal family, there is the heir and the spare... no disrespect, but that is how the media plays them out. The same would be true in a SW royal family... you could have Chris, the damn fool... Stewie, the evil genius... and Meg, who is just kinda there... come on, in the SW special, she was the freakin sarlaac pit, how much more "minor character" do you get?

The part of Brian could be played by Warwick...

 

The thought occurred that Billie might be Leia in brief TFA flashbacks, mainly to prime the audience for her appearance in the first spinoff film, again as a very young Leia who is involved in the acquisition of the first Death Star plans? The film would be an indirect sequel to the second and final season of Star Wars Rebels, which in turn may send characters like the Inquisitor and Chopper to the big screen?

 

I hadn't thought of the flashbacks setting up spin-offs. Interesting....

 

I still hope they don't attempt the flashbacks with OT characters played by new actors thing. It just cheapens the performances in the OT, in my opinion. Not to mention that the Death Star plans had to have been stolen relatively close to the start of ANH, and therefore Leia wouldn't look a whole heck of a lot different than the ol' cinnamon roll head we all know and love.

 

The plans might have been in illegal circulation for months beforehand, but only gotten into Rebel property leading up to ANH.
