SPECULATION Could R2/3PO make a cameo?

In my headcanon, this would be a really good ending to Rogue One (or something like this):



Or something like that where we see Alderaan, Bail hugging his adoptive daughter (with her hood conveniently on, so we cannot see her face) and then we see her walking towards the Tantive IV, with Artoo and Threepio following closely.

It would be such a poetic justice since I just realised the Tantive IV took her to Alderaan for the first time and this way, the same ship would have taken her from Alderaan for the last time. She arrived in it for the first time as a baby and she left on her Rebel mission for the last time, before the planet was destroyed.

 

Seeing the droids would be cool, but now that SLJ has confirmed Mace Windu's survival.... I think THAT cameo would trump the Bantha-poodoo out of Golden Rod and the Overweight Glob of Grease making an appearance.

 

Nah. Just seeing them isn't enough. I need the robotic insults and whistles and snarky comeback between both. And sadly, all we have left now is Anthony Daniels . RIP, Kenny Baker.

 

R2 and C3PO MUST be in the movie or Rogue One won't be a Star Wars Movie.

I believe RO last scene should be Leia's ship getting attacked by Darth Vader Imperial Cruiser, just like the begining of A New Hope, and both droids are in there and should say something smart on the situation.

 

In my opinion, since Bail Organa is in the film, I could see C-3PO and R2-D2 standing next to them as a cameo. No lines, just background characters.

 

C-3PO and R2 were owned by Captain Antillies at that point, or at least that's what 3PO said. Depending on Antillies role in the Rebellion, you could easily see 3PO and R2 on Yavin IV or elsewhere, remember 3PO was in the war room at the end of ANH and R2 was in an X-wing, so they've been around the Rebellion before. I think I'd be more surprised if they weren't in the movie.

 

D'oh! You're right. I guess we will be waiting on Rohan Nichol to confirm he's on set.

 

Bail Organa owned them, C-3PO and R2-D2 were crewmembers on the Tantive IV under the command of Captain Antilles. Master is a term for the person they serve. Also C-3PO, during the partial hologram message that Luke discovers, does not know who Leia is, he calls her 'a passenger on our last voyage, a person of some importance'. So it's a good bet if the Tantive IV is in 'Rogue One' they will be too.

 

C3PO is lying or covering that up. In the beginning of the movie, he mentions her by name.

 

There'll be no escape for the princess this time. It could just be that he knew she was on board but did not know what she looked like. He doesn't say to R2, what were you doing down there with the princess.

 

I would be cool if Jyn saw Artoo & Threepio standing near the Tantive IV.

 

I'm going to really upset if this doesn't happen.

I think they should make an appearance. Especially since Bail Organa is in it. I hope Leia makes an appearance too. She's too crucial of a character in this time period to not at least reference.

How is it that I've watched Star Wars countless times, and never noticed this inconsistency? It occurred to me that Leia was captured on a ship filled with men called "Rebel Fleet Troopers", yet she still tried to pretend she had nothing to do with the rebellion. But the C-3PO thing went right over my head.

I guess they could say that C-3PO was programed not to reveal anything about Leia or anyone else involved with the rebellion. That would be a sensible thing to do.

Bail may well have passed C-3PO to Antilles immediately following events of RotS, but given the ship's ties to Bail and to the rebellion, it's hard to imagine that C-3PO would not have been at least familiar with Leia. And the line at the beginning of the movie does seem to confirm that.
