Recently, it was discovered that Dave Filoni and Kathleen Kennedy met with the chief of Polygon Pictures during a trip to Japan. Now, it's come to light that, while they were there, they also met with people involved with Production I.G, the studio that thrilled anime fans with Star Wars Visions: The Ninth Jedi, along with works in the Ghost in the Shell series.

A few days after Filoni and Kennedy visited Shuzo John Shiota, the executive producer of Star Wars Resistance, it was learned that they also stopped by one of their collaborators for Star Wars Visions for what appears to have been another meeting, with Filoni leaving an illustration of Ahsoka and Grogu behind as he and Kennedy autographed a portion of the wall. A fan visiting the studio was able to get a snapshot of the illustration and autographs, which were dated on November 11, 2022:

The untranslated text in the tweet roughly translates to the following:

Given the recent visit to another Japanese studio, it seems likely this may have been for business-related reasons. Production I.G could be involved with future seasons of Star Wars Visions, or it could be possible that they'll work on another project altogether. The Ninth Jedi Director Kenji Kamiyama described his short film as a pilot episode of sorts, setting the stage for a continuation of the story, and should he be involved with these conversations with Lucasfilm again, the opportunity to finish that narrative might soon present itself. However, a follow-up to his Visions short would most likely not come until after his next anime film, the New Line Cinema-produced The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim, which is currently in production. It's also possible that Lucasfilm spoke with other animation directors at the studio.

Volume One of Star Wars Visions, a Star Wars anime anthology, is available to stream exclusively on Disney Plus. Volume Two, which will feature anime as well as animation from a variety of studios around the world, is set to arrive in Spring 2023.
