Death Star for the Resistance? So the Rebels/Resistance has had the Death Star plans for a long time now. Perhaps they have secretly built their own without the flaws to use against the FO Fleet?

That would be a cool twist. Maybe they even have to forage parts from the debris of the other two...

Originally there was going to be a resistance weapon in the Force Awakens that could destroy Star Destroyers. But the idea was scrapped. I don't think we will see it in this movie. Maybe 9.

The idea was partially reused in Rogue one with the Hammerhead Corvette being a ship that could ram into Star Destroyers.

I believe the implications a weapon like the Death Star could bring about are too grave for Leia to ever sign off on the creation of one.

i dont think that would happen because they SHOULD have learned their lesson by now and the debris from the DS was incincerated.

In four out of eight live-action Star Wars films that got released in cinemas a superweapon was a major plot point. I believe that's more than enough for now and the foreseeable future.

The Death Star (or any variation of a planet destroying weapon) is the GFFA's equivalent of an earth's Weapon of Mass Destruction (WMD). Too many innocent people (i.e., not politicians and soldiers) and children will die when such a weapon is used. If a side, such as the New Republic or the Resistance, will use a WMD, then they are no longer morally good. You might win a war with WMDs, but you will lose something more important.

Nah to easy, one time trinket for the empire, the alliance doesn't need that loss of life.
