    Hello all!

I come before you today as a major Star Wars fan who is interested in purchasing her very first Lightsaber. Up to this point, I had never thought of owning one but I quickly grew to love those I saw online and wished to have one to call my own.

I plan on this being my first and most probably only lightsaber, because it is a very large financial investment. With this in mind, and to make it worthwhile for me, I want to make sure I get a very good lightsaber.

I live in Australia, so unfortunately, shipping costs and exchange rates will be high but I am more concerned with which lightsaber I should choose.

As I had been doing some research, I came across two custom lightsaber companies; Saber Forge and Ultra Sabers. Both have good and bad reviews.

From the get-go I decided that I would never be happy to choose one lightsaber colour so I will definitely need a colour changeable version. Here is the problem....

Saber Forge has very good reviews about their quality and stability of parts in their sabers, but their colour changing option on the Hero tier seems very weird to me. There's two buttons rather than one, which I don't think looks good, and you rotate the saber to switch between two colours (which I think would be an issue when you're swinging it around, no?). But I adore all of their lightsaber designs and I have fallen head over heels for the Ares saber, which I like better than pretty much any other design I've ever seen.

On the other hand, Ultra Sabers has designs that don't particularly appeal to me, and I have seen various reviews about the lower quality of their sabers. But the colour changing system of their Emerald and Diamond sabers looks easy and much more suited to me, being able to select colours and options digitally on your computer.

So I'm just honestly a little confused on what I can do. Would someone be able to elaborate for me exactly how the colour changing system works with Hero tier sabers from Saber Forge? Because I already adore the Ares chassis and it's only the colour changing that is worrying me. I want to be able to use any colour easily because this will most probably be my only lightsaber.

If you have any thoughts or opinions, PLEASE let me know below. I really do want to be well informed in order to make the right decision!

    Welcome to The Cantina @AuroraSkies!

I've not purchased sabers myself, but @Bounty Humper started a discussion around the same two companies over here which could help sway your decision, which has included input from people who have bought from them like @Luke's beard. @Lord Revanous also has a fairly enviable collection and experience with saber purchasing too, so perhaps drop one of these guys a PM once you've seen their threads (lightsaber) (red) (green) (blue) (crossguard)

If anyone on these forums owns a Hero tier Saber Forge lightsaber, I'd highly appreciate it if you could tell me more about the ways they work and how you would rate them :D

if you want a really sturdy one i would suggest a force fx one like $150 over these.

The thing with me is that I probably won't have anyone else to duel with so it's not that big of a deal for it to be massively sturdy. Most of the time it's gonna be sitting on my desk in it's stand so I want it to be something really special that I can look at and be proud of haha. Like a trophy or a prized possession. That's why I would like to go all out :)

yeah i do that and all but all of mine are from the master replicas days. The cool thing with force FX, while a tad bit pricey, is that they practically last forever, are very high quality (the hasbro standard so you know you aren't getting something flimsy) and they look movie quality. I've played with some ultra sabers and the type and, while they're not that bad, they didn't have that quality feel forme, at least.
