Disney CEO Says They Will Be More Careful About the Volume and Timing of Future Star Wars Movies Going Forward

I'm not panicking.

I'm not a Rian Johnson fan. I'm a Star Wars fan. Rian Johnson happend to make a SW film I really liked. I'm happy he's been put in charge of a trilogy, but if it doesn't come to pass then I'll be fine.

And why should I care if another film does better at the box office? I don't. It doesn't matter.

But whatever happens, The Last Jedi will still be The Last Jedi. It will always be the second episode of the sequel trilogy and and the eighth episode in the saga. All those things you hate about TLJ will still be there and will stay the same. So even if Rian Johnson makes no more Star Wars, you've still 'lost'.

 

That username must be the most saddest thing I've seen in the fandom.

Ok I haven’t read this whole thread, but thought I would chime in on what I have heard over the past couple of years about some internal things when it comes to Disney and Lucas film. In a bit shell I’ve been told that there is a great lack of trust and faith in some of the creative leadership at Lucasfilm from the Disney perspective. I’ve been told There has been some consideration of becoming much more involved in the over sight of the films and tv productions. A lot of the turmoil started from rogue one and the reshoots. People who saw the first couple cuts of the film just thought that the hands off approach was going to come back and bite them in the ass. It kind of did with solo. Solo was almost a disaster of a film. Iger is a very smart man and Disney is handling things the right way so far publicly but there will be a lot more oversight moving forward.

 

Okay so who are you? Who is telling you these things?

You must be somebody important who knows some important people in Disney and/or Lucasfilm right? I'm guessing you must be otherwise why would anybody be telling you this stuff.

Somebody has marked your post has 'informative', but it's not informative unless you can verify your claims. At the moment you're just a nobody on the internet. That's not meant to be an insult - as far as everyone else is concerned, I too am a nobody on the internet. We all are, unless we can verify who we are and our claims.

 

Meh... I don’t have any emotion into whether you believe me or not. I used to work in the industry and have friends and former colleagues that are still in various roles throughout the industry. We talk from time to time about stuff. I am not looking to be a source or break a story or looking for any kind of attention. Just adding my two cents based on conversations I have had the past few years.
