All I can say about it is I'm glad I've seen it but left the cinema feeling that I hadn't seen anything original or humming any of the music! At least it had X-Wings and TIE Fighters!

 

I can't remember a single theme or music besides the cantina scene and the opening scrawl .

Personally loved it. I did think the Soundtrack is a bit weak, perhaps the weakest so far. However, the film itself was good. Very good. I hate to malign the PT, as I did like them (did not love them), but it did everything I hoped it would, and that includes awakening my love for the series once more.

 

Yeah, I'm pretty much reset to the love I had before, like around 1996-98 or so. And I keep humming Rey's theme, so...

Also, the soundtrack is my fave since ESB.

 

in defense of the soundtrack. J.J. Wanted to somewhat reboot the sound for future film. Something like he did on Trek..... Still the basic stuff but different. This film, although the same feel as the OT was different in a way.

Yeah, on Friday, I went from the plane to the theater to see it and STILL only had a few take always ingrained into my head although yes I do remember the movie as a whole .

 

Yes. The love is back, especially after PT, which didn't give me that feeling that the OT did. People said that was because I wasn't a kid anymore but TFA took me back to being 9 years old again. I left the theater wanting to fly a X-wing and swing a light saber and say some inappropriate one liner when my life was in danger.

 

To be honest I'm only interested in Rian Johnson's take now, after watching TFA. If I relate my viewing experience of TFA with the immediate hiring of Colin Trevorrow AFTER Jurassic World was a huge BO success( a movie were it was hard for me to not fall asleep), I feel de-hyped. I will never pay again for a movie without synopsis before release and I will wait for the unpaid reviewers to decide if i watch VIII in a theater or borrow it.
Furthermore personally I've no idea for what i should be excited about anymore.

FOrder survivers are Snoke, Hux, and Kylo, the planet with all the FOrder's Trooper was destroyed. The republic is eradicated but nevertheless it seems the resistance has won and Rey is going on holiday with her Dad or what?

Gravitas? No chance. Suspense? well what?
Rian is also writing IX, but well, I don't trust the marketing anymore and Disney didn't delivered to my view. They're aiming at the Hunger Games audience, which is fine, but the marketing wasn't honest in that regard. Disney an JJ broke the magic to a moderate extent for me in relation to Star Wars. Hopefully it will come back, who knows.

 

Big yes, loved it anyway. Amazing new addition to the franchise.

 

Considering a lot of the marketing has used the original music constantly, and worthy of it, I was expecting something as spectacular in this. It just felt like any other action movie music and nothing at all stood out for me! Very surprising considering how good the music was in JJs Star Trek reboot! Sorry for being kinda fixated on the music but that was a huge part of the original trilogy for me and tbh I often wonder how successful they would have been if the music had been as non-descript as this! Maybe some enterprising nerd could make a redub with the original music just to see what difference it would have made?

 

It was the first time in my 41 years that I have ever come out of the theatre feeling weird, sad and empty after having seen a SW movie.
