    With Episode VIII about a year and a half away, when do you guys think that we will see the first teaser Trailer for Episode VIII, and where do you Guys think it will debut ?????

    The teaser for TFA was a year and a month before the release date (if memory serves me right). If they do that with VIII, we should see a teaser this summer.

    Come to think about it, If i remember correctly the first teaser for The Force Awakens was only released because fans was pushing to see some footage very early. The second teaser (which was released in April this year) was propably ment to be the first teaser for The Force Awakens. But hey, The Force Awakens promotion was also a part of JJ's mystery box thing, so maybe they will change their marketing strategy this time, who knows.

    So I would say that the Episode 8 teaser trailer will be released about 7 - 8 months before the film releases in to theaters.. I hope I'm wrong though, and that it will be released earlier.

    I would expect the first teaser to be released around the same time that TFA got its second teaser. We had a long, 3-year wait between announcement and release for TFA, so they felt it'd be fair to give us something early. We only have to wait a year and a half for VIII, and a year for Rogue One (the next Star Wars movie), so I would think they'd just do it when they're ready, and not rush it.

    We got the first teaser for TFA 12 months before release so I'm guessing we might get the first teaser for VIII around May next year.

    We might get one at Star Wars celebration in London, but I think it's likely to be a five second thing, rather than the type of teaser that the first TFA one was.

    Thanksgiving Week(end) or in front of Rogue One? I'd like to see it around May 4 or Star Wars Celebration, but I think they'll be focusing on Rogue One then. Maybe both trailers, so Rogue One gets May 4 while Star Wars Celebration gets an exclusive event only Episode VIII trailer?

    I could see 7-8 months before release, only a year and a half until it's release so they'd have a good amount of time to make one. So awesome they start filming next month! Rian Johnson is going to knock it out of the park no doubt

    If they release a teaser too close to the release of Rogue One it is going to confuse the hell out of the public. This is going to be a tricky bit of marketing juggling for Disney with two unrelated Star Wars movies coming out so close together. I think we''ll only see a brief teaser for 8 in the spring or summer, and the full trailer AFTER the release of Rogue One.

    Around September or October next year, but I think that production isn't going to be so painfully secretive.

    I say with Rogue One.

    Disney has to make the general public, who does not follow Star Wars as closely as the fans do, aware of the fact that Rogue One and Episode 8 are not connected. They need to promote Rogue One as a standalone, as many people will assume it's the sequel to The Force Awakens.

    Therefore, I don't see them doing major promotion for Episode 8 until Rogue One is in the theaters and 6 months is a decent amount of time to start promoting 8.
