so that can finally end the "OMG new skellig filming is JJ mystery box.....luke has a lot more scenes!!!oneone" moronic posts that have been hanging around like a bad smell on multiple star wars social media sites

 

So some people have already read Aftermath. Here are some of the interesting pieces of information:
- Wedge believes there is a mole in the New Republic.
- Mon Mothma is Chancellor of the New Republic
- A former advisor of Palpatine mentions that there are no sith left in the Galaxy and Luke has an "untouchable soul". He talks about how Palpatine believed his power came from beyond known space, and that he had sent people out there, who built labs and comm stations, to seek out the source of the dark side power.
- Some guy on Tatooine comes across a full set of Mandalorian armour "pitted and pocked as if with some kind of acid"
- A Kubaz on Taris is selling a "red lightsaber" which is rumoured to have belonged to Vader. The "Acolytes of the Beyond" purchase the lightsaber, hoping to "destroy it, so that it can be returned to its master in death."
- The main character during the Jakku interlude chapter, is a man named Corwin who went there to get away from the fighting (Max Von Sydow's character perhaps?)
EDIT:
- Imperial Admiral Rae Sloane reports to another Fleet Admiral waiting in deep space who everyone else (inclluding other Imperial Remnant) believes to be dead. It seems he wanted the situation with Akiva to go so badly in order to eliminate competition and to test Sloane's competency... (Thrawn confirmed?)

 

Interesting, so two mentions of things that are "beyond", also to add to your interesting info,

- Just that there are still imperials. Some far in the outer rim.

 

That is some mind blowing stuff....Good god...

 

It's only about 6 months after ROTJ (it takes place before the Battle of Jakku). Naturally, there would still be some Imperial remnant.

 

it makes you wonder, with a lot of speculation about how far back the Knights of Ren go, did palpatines belief of power from beyond known space and the sending of people out there actually stumble on to this group of knights or even snoke?

true, i was actually commenting on the "far in the outer rim part" (sorry for the confusion ) interesting how they honing this focus of things happening beyond the known galaxy that we are all accustom to.

 

Idk why but this plot detail reminds me of some EU or Legacy Series-Stuff....Not the Vong in perticular but very similar...

I just hope they keep the "invisble in the force" stuff out of the canon... never cared much for that.

Reminds me of the Revan novel, where he travels to find some mysterious dark force beyond the rim and falls to the then Emperor, a storyline that continues in swtor.

 

I swear I remember the name Corwin being attached to MVS's character. It was a while back, but it certainly set off a memory alarm when I saw that.

I'm wondering, too, if the search for power, "...beyond known space..." alludes to the creation of Anakin in the Force. I know it's prequel/midichlorian mumbo jumbo, but the fact remains Anakin was a fatherless birth (I'll stay away from "virgin birth"). This could lend credence to Palpatine still searching for "powers some would consider...unnatural" not only to explain Anakin's creation, but to gain and control the power that could do that. Something beyond (pun kinda intended) the Force as we know it.

I think that quote is just referring to places deeper in space. Places and civilizations as yet undiscovered by the Empire or the Republic and affiliated worlds. I don't think it's referring to anything "beyond the Force."
