The more I learn about this scene, the more I think:


And it's really aggravating me. I really hope the scene in the Last Jedi is its own and not to similar to Hoth.

 

Photoshopped? Also the claim of the final trailer during MNF again. Can't wait for that one.

 

I have the same concern. We'll just have to wait and see.

I understand your concern/frustration but can I ask what exactly do you not like about it? The fact that it's a potential rehash of the Battle of Hoth or that all the haters out there are going to say it's a rehash of Empire? Again, while I see where you and others are coming from, I'm willing to give Johnson the benefit of the doubt...for now.

 

It's probably not needed because it doesn't fly into space. But I noticed the red squares marks where the enclosure thing would be so maybe it's CGI. ?

Well, I guess that's as good a guess as any for now.

 

SKI Speeder. Just saying big diff between Sky and Ski. Ski is going to start getting the ESB rehash people going for sure. If it is actually Salt (or maybe something we dont even have in this galaxy) and not snow, I don't know what the haters want it to be called. Skiff? Scooter? What will make you not try to claim this movie is going to be an ESB rehash? However.... that rumor about Luke lifting his X-wing out of the water on Ahch-to while training a new Jedi on a remote planet isnt helping either.

 

Thank you for pointing that out. With the word "Ski" in its name it seems like Ski Speeders will be just hovering over ground, not flying. Also, is the whole rumour thing because of the image or did someone from a reliable source tell that Rey would have to lift Luke's broken-down X-wing as a part of her training?

 

My concern is specifically this scene feeling too much like the battle of Hoth. Giving these vehicles the name, "SKI Speeders," does not help this. They literally could have named them anything and they chose the acronym SKI?

This only adds fuel to the similarities this movie may have with Empire Strikes back. I am fine with some similarity. However, after The Force Awakens, I really want a true, original story like most.


While I do have concern, I also recognize Rian has done a phenomenal job on this movie and I trust that this is only a promotional blip in a much more unique story.

 

The rumor is another "I saw a picture of concept art" I believe. Based on that, there isn't any evidence Rey tries to lift it. It's just Luke doing it. As if he stored it down there.

 

That's not an acronym. It's just a word "ski," like the one that describes this flat object on which people ride when they are in snowy mountains, like the one on this picture.

 

Is Rian and the cast in SDCC?

Well, if it means anything...Jason Ward just said (on the recent podcast) that he thinks Rey goes Dagobah style...

 

Easy solution, the battle should be in the forest with the help of the indigenous species . . . oh, wait a minute.

I knew this. However, I thought the word SKI was also an acronym. After reading the toy description, I guess it's not...

Where in ESB did you see cute little animals with razor sharp teeth? Where did you see a force sensitive water beast? Where did you see crazy rich people and aliens in evening wear gambling and aloof from the troubles of the galaxy (think James Bond in space). Where in ESB did you see racing space horses? Lavish baddies in luxurious gold robes? A conflicted dark sider that's truly pulled between good and evil, rather than just Vader's tiny itch of good buried way in the back of his mind? A prison break style scene (rumored). The loss of a loved one driving a secondary/tertiary character to join the rebellion and fight like heck with a main character? Guys, there's so much new to this film.

Are we really going down the rehash road hate fest again just because there are similar beats to ESB? Walkers and speeders and maybe lifting of an x-wing? Don't you think that, wth alllll of the other rumored new stuff, this just amounts to a playful nod to the past?

 

and it's the second movie in a trilogy. There are certain things that will happen because they have to for the third to take place.
