I remember a commented about this a while ago... because:

There was a post on reddit about those characters.
I suggested that perhaps they have to do with Rey's backstory.
But now, I'd say not only that... but
- that the black guys on Ahch to are them and not the KOR.
- Kylo or doesn't go for "real" on the island and Adam filmed a vision scene (like the cave scene Vader/Luke) or if he does, he goes alone. I believe the first is more likely.
- The black guys spotted with helmets, strange weapons etc...are in fact those guys
- And that is or another vision about the past of the island (perhaps in the same sequence, with several scenes) or it's just them that reach for real the island.
- The cliff fighting scene Kylo vs Rey as reported by MSW doesn't existe. Whoever was there, saw the filming of the training scene Luke + Rey, on the cliff we see in trailer

 

The helmet is similar, but not the same, as the one in the Forceback. It could mean something, it could mean nothing. Zuvio's helmet is also similar. Not sure why this clan would be at all important to the tales in TFA or TLJ.



Also, we see Ren "save" Rey in this moment as well. But was Rey really there? Or is she stepping into someone else's body through the Forceback? If not Rey, who is he saving? Or did this even really happen? Again: could mean something, could mean nothing.

 

What's confusing about that is Rey sees little Rey, so if it was someone else, then Rey would have seen that person. Same with Kylo Ren always seeing and coming after her. She never replaces anyone in the visions, so does that mean he saved her as a kid or will save her from something in the future? There's many ways to look at it.

 

Agreed. Many ways too look at it. Or in hindsight it may turn out that there's no way to look at it and it was just "a vision" like Luke in the Dagobah cave. (shrug)

 

I always thought it was foreshadowing his relationship to Vader or that he could one day become like/replace Vader if he gave into the Emperor.

Actually now that I think about it, the saber seemed to be showing Rey the history of the Skywalkers and Luke discovering who his father was, leading to something that happened at the academy and somehow this affected Rey being abandoned.

Luke's positioning is rather interesting...

Uhhhh...so Luke appears on the "darkside" side of the poster that contains all the major players? And he also appears front and center on a "darkside only" poster, looking shady as heck? Wow.......I never ever believed the "Luke is going dark" speculations.....until now. Wow. Wow. Wow.

Likewise. Got that vibe instantly from it. Luke's whole positioning is more of an antagonist than a protagonist.

 

OK, I've had it... I just can't stand MSW. I really hate what they do. They can spoil even the f-ing poster. It's so damn annoying... Blocking them is not enough. I've barely avoided this one, because people share it on Twitter. I'm glad that at least people here have enough common sense to hide it.

 

What's ironic is that they post at the heading of each "spoil" "please do not share this on media to avoid potential spoilers" ""

 

if a mock poster drawn by MSW, that is likely not the final design, rustles your jimmies that much, then i'd suggest staying away from forums and fan sites.
