It would be cool to see him chasing Rey and Finn as a part of the subplot but this might mean we will probably see Jakku again for some reason .

 

As has already been said, IMDB isn't always the most reliable, however I think there's a good chance of seeing more Unkar, after all, he is the one holding young Rey's hand in the flashback. There's gotta be more to his involvement before this trilogy is over, even if it's only minor.

 

Except IMDB has to verify it before it's posted...it's not entirely like Wikipedia..

So (my speculation) is that the black and white photo Rian Johnson posted a while back on his Tumblr page (which we all assumed is from EP VIII production) turns out is actually a photo he must have taken when they were filming TFA.

But if Lupita is yet to film her scenes now that production has wrapped does it mean she will not be interacting with any of the main characters, or are her scenes planned to be shot when they are doing reshoots/additional filming (which are most probably planned anyway)?

 

I don't think she will have more than five minutes of screen time.

 

I agree. It will not surprise me that maybe even less. But that's not a negative thing and is to be expected. She didn't have a lot of time in TFA either...
But who knows...

 

Very interesting. I do not mind that she will not be in the movie much. However, I really hope that she will interact with other actors during reshoots and not that she will be inserted in already filmed scenes.

 

These movies have such a huge cast it's probably impossible to have too much screentime to have her have much stuff to do in the movie which I think is similar to what happened to Phasma in TFA.

 

Me too. I was under the impression (mostly due to the TFA behind the scenes) that she was interacting with actors (on her knees) in TFA, so I'm hoping that remains the same. As was Andy Serkis BTW.
But also it is known that Arti Shah was acting as stand -in/double for Maz in some scenes in TFA, so we can assume they could have already filmed some scenes with Maz for VIII already and will do additional work with Lupita maybe during reshoots...? And also, come to think of it, since Maz is a mo-capped character it is perhaps a very normal thing that they are doing her scenes after the principal photography has wrapped.

 

and she was mainly there in TFA to introduce Rey to the force, because Luke was only there at the end. I don't see much that she can provide storywise in VIII, unless she reveals as someone who can maybe train Finn in the force, but at the moment I don't see it.

 

She's probably just going to be in a montage showing how she ended up with the lightsabre

 

lol she could do a training montage with Finn in the ruins of her bar just like with yoda in ESB .

 

I guess the dude knows more about Rey's parents than we do.

 

Also ask on Pegg plays him and he's pretty big (and wrote Star Trek 3 for JJ) so he would most likely be a bigger player (menace) in the movie .

 

Unkar is more connected to Rey so I hope he has a bigger role. He's gonna want the MF back I'd assume and maybe Chewie might let him have it if he asks real nice...
