Could the Trooper attack on Rey's Tatoonie settlement be because the Empire got a tip about her and are trying to capture her?

For whatever reason, but I'd put money on them learning Rey is a Force Sensitive or because of her parentage. I could see Max Von Sydow being the old cyborg from the concept art and learns this aspect about Rey (or who she is) and then contacts the Empire for a reward. Then they come in full force led by the Chrome trooper. Perhaps Finn then goes AWOL, not having signed up to butcher simple farmers.

Finn & Rey meet. They get rescued by the Falcon. Then they are pursued by 'Captain Phasma'

Phasma means an apparition or phantom. Could it be a code name? As in, the Empire sends GC if they need a covert operation or infiltration done? That could explain why GC is seen in Civilian attire at the starport/ rebel base where Adam Driver, the Falcon and x-wings are. GC could be undercover trying to get closer to her target. Or maybe she learns the Rebels are looking for Skywalker and infiltrates them to try and find him?

I'd love for GC to be an 'Emperor's Hand' or 'Inquisitor'

 

Hmm... All this talk about about spies, covert operations, and Act III reveals are interesting... but at the same time they don't really seem to gel well with your typical Star Wars film.

I mean, Palpatine in the PT was overt in that, while secret to the film's characters, we all knew about it. As far as something that was a big "game changer" that the audience did not know about, all I can think of is Lando's sudden change in ESB. Things like Vader turning don't count, as they weren't something the character planned.

Overall that line of thought seems more than a bit clichéd... though I suppose one could argue the same about other Star Wars plots if they choose to.

I'm having a time figuring anything out about her if those Greenham Commons photos are her. Those guys she's dressed like look far from troopers or what you might picture imperial special forces too look like. People were assuming that's boyega in the group shot. I did see a video someone took (possibly the same person that took these photos) and the guy directing through a megaphone says "john boyega" at some point.

 

Indeed, though that doesn't mean they can't be some type of Imperial special forces unit in disguise. Dressed as some dock workers or so for infiltration. It's not impossible.

 

Right definitely not impossible but the fact that boyega was on set causes even more confusion. It also makes so many plot theories people have just seem overly complicated and over involved to me. If boyega bails out early in the film in trooper gear why is he at what looks like a rebel base with GC & co. and the falcon is there? It just makes me think we are waaaaaay off on what is going on.

 

My guess borders on conspiracy theory but I bet it's not far off; I think JJ has a team dedicated to disseminating false information on social media. Some of the leaks were real, definitely but some were leaked on purpose. There may well be people on these forums who are on the mouse's payroll steering us away from the truth of the plot.

 

I'm sure some things that have been leaked were intentionally leaked to throw us off and keep us interested. More than likely it was some of the concept art though.

 

Lol when I first saw the pics my reaction was that someone saw the drone and the cast raided the studios prop room for WW2 uniforms just make us sweat.

Lucas said that the ST was going to be about morality and how far the new order would go to achieve what they wanted. So spies intrigue, government transparency might play big role.

We are getting way off topic but I find it crazy that half the cast is potentially in this scene???? We will see I guess.

My point on bringing up the picture is that I find it hard for driver and Christie (if that's her) to be on the same set not looking like characters people claim they are. Kylo Ren or a chrome trooper If they are those characters.

Did I mention that I heard from Disney Animation that Luke's only apprentice is Stitch from "Lelo and Stitch."

Also there is no snow planet in TFA Elsa is queen of Yavin 4 not Norway.

Back on topic (I think), I'm iffy on the thought of spies. One thing has Boyega playing a spy for Luke or the Republic/Alliance, which I'm not a fan of. Christie running covert operations in disguise, now that I can get behind.

 

If GC is a covert spy for the empire and isn't a chrome trooper but just a special ops spy. I can embrace that. This stuff about Driver also being a double agent or a wannabe sith in disguise in addition to GC being a spy. No. Please no. No where in any of the villains description in a SW film do I want to hear "wannabe".

 

I partly agree with that. Well, I agree 100% if he's handled as a "wannabe" Sith. From that line of rumor that I've heard, I prefer more the version in which he's someone who started with a mild interest which has become an obsession and corruption.

I might be fine with him like that and GC as a spy, so long as it's Driver simply hiding his obsession and dark tendencies from people, not playing a double agent or spy. Though it would seem to be playing really hard into the "you'll never guess what next!" type of suspense which is best reserved for the few big things no one sees coming (like Vader's line) instead of being cheapened with a bunch of double-crossing and such.

 

That's exactly what I'm talking about. A "Surprise I'm a double agent!" twist is no SW twist! That's for the crappy military/government based movies out every year. SW twists are expected to be so good the viewers know the character is a spy the whole time.

 

Oh, I agree. Pre-Empire Palpatine was always enjoyable because you knew he was flat-out running circles around everyone.

As for twists, I also fear an "I am your father" moment from Luke, or an "I am your mother" moment from Leia for that matter, as someone mentioned at some point here.

 

I think it's going to be a back stabbing (literally) but not in TFA.

 

Not that I am necessarily in favor of having a relative of Count Dooku but I was reading MSW yesterday and they pointed out that GC seems to be connected to the role was rumored to at one time going to Cumberbach and that she might be related to Dooku.

With the chrome trooper look supposedly being her or even before I saw the rumor about the chrome trooper when I heard she was in the film I immediately pictured her in an Imperial Navy officer's uniform.

Naturally the picture throws the Imperial officer idea into doubt. Unless those drab greens are the new Imperial Navy kit when they are not in flight suit.
